The Žermanická přehrada reservoir extends partly into Dolní Domaslavice. Together with the highest point, U Lípek, and its named routes, it reveals a municipality whose attractions go beyond water sports. The parish church connects the history of both Domaslavice municipalities; the former chateau and memories of a former museum add other historical dimensions. This gives you a choice of travel focus: water, landscape, routes, and culture.

Water, Swimming and Water Sports

The reservoir lies on the Lučina River and has a water surface of about 250 hectares. It is used for recreation and offers excellent conditions for water sports, including windsurfing. The “VN Žermanice – Dolní Domaslavice” bathing area is below the Dolní Domaslavice campsite and has a grassy beach with a gently sloping entry into the water. The campsite has a snack bar, toilets, and showers; lifeguards and medical staff are not available there. Check bathing conditions before swimming; facilities may change seasonally. This lets you distinguish between the reservoir’s water-sport opportunities and the specifically described bathing area. The entire water surface is therefore equivalent to around 2.5 square kilometres.

Viewpoints and Routes

At 378.6 metres above sea level, U Lípek is the highest point in Dolní Domaslavice and offers sweeping views of the surrounding area. The view from this highest point complements recreation by the water with a landscape perspective. The Prašivá educational trail has a branch that starts in Dolní Domaslavice and ends at the summit of Malá Prašivá. Cycle Route 6090 leads from Dolní Domaslavice to Český Těšín; check the current signage locally. The destinations distinguish the two routes: the educational trail ends at a mountain summit, while the cycle route leads to Český Těšín.

Shared History and Heritage

The Church of St James the Greater stands on the boundary between Horní and Dolní Domaslavice. Historically, it served as the shared centre of both municipalities. Today it is once again a spiritual centre where residents of both municipalities meet. Its history thus links a former shared focal point with its present-day spiritual role.

The former chateau in Dolní Domaslavice was a small Neoclassical manor with Empire-style elements, built in 1804. The building has not survived. The historical Domaslavské Museum comprised 1,390 inventory items. Today, a corner interior in the vestibule of the municipal office recalls the Slezská jizba (Silesian Room) of the former museum. A church with a present-day community role, a chateau that no longer survives, and a present-day reminder of the former museum thus represent different periods in the town’s history.
