Jablunkov offers visitors a chance to include cultural history and nature in their travel plans. Museums, educational trails and parks provide a range of thematic highlights. First consider whether you would mainly like to explore collections and architectural history, learn more about regional nature outdoors, or plan your stay around an event date.

Museums and historic architecture

The World Bible Museum is located in the Old Monastery in Jablunkov. Its collection currently comprises about 5,000 exhibits. The oldest date from the second half of the 16th century; they include pieces from 1540, 1549 and 1556/57.

The permanent exhibition “Landscape and People” is open at the Museum of Tripoint. The museum is housed in a building with a Renaissance core dating from the 16th century, one of the oldest brick buildings in Silesia. The building is traditionally known as the Prince's House. In the second half of the 16th century, it became the property of the Těšín princes of the Piast dynasty. Here, then, an exhibition and the building's architectural history come together; the World Bible Museum offers a different cultural focus through its collection.

Educational trails: nature and history

The “Příroda Jablunkovska” educational trail lies within the cadastral area of the city of Jablunkov and is 8 km long. Its information panels cover the flora, fauna and waterways of the Jablunkovsko region. The “Stezka historií Jablunkova” educational trail focuses on history and has 17 stops. The trails therefore differ both in subject matter and in the specific details provided: the nature trail's length is given, while the history trail's number of stops is specified. This allows you to choose the focus that best suits your interests.

City forest, arboretum and park art

The Jablunkov city forest includes a park with stone sculptures, a pump track and a nature trail. This nature trail leads to a water feature. Artworks, a sports facility and a nature theme can thus all be found within the city forest.

Another botanical collection is the arboretum at the Jablunkov sanatorium, which includes 350 species of trees, shrubs and perennials. The sanatorium park also features sculptures by Jan Tříska and Vincent Makovský. These details draw attention to different aspects: the variety of plant species in the arboretum and the named artworks in the park.

Festivals as a reason to travel

Event dates can also shape your plans. The Jablunkov parish holds a pilgrimage every year on the Feast of Corpus Christi. The children's folklore festival “Jackové dětem” takes place in June. The “Gorolski Świento” festival is associated with the first weekend in August in Jablunkov and is described as the oldest festival in the region. The timing varies: Corpus Christi, the month of June and the first weekend in August. If you are travelling specifically for an event, check the exact date in advance.

This gives you a clear choice of travel focus: museum collections and architectural history, the nature or history themes of the educational trails, parks and the arboretum, or a festival date.
