During the peak of glass bead production from 1902 to 1904, a total of 150 glass bead makers worked in Doubravice U Dvora Králové—the highest number among the 67 named places in the surrounding area. Glass bead making is therefore a distinctive focus of the area's history. Other local history topics include the name Velehrádek, the Ježkův dům school building and a locally passed-down story about the reconciliation crosses between Doubravice and Zábřezí. The surrounding area also offers rock formations, forest trails and ponds as nature destinations. This means you can choose Doubravice for specific local stories or for trails and green landscapes.

Traces of Local History

The name Velehrádek was transferred from a hill to the fortress “Hrad Velehrádek” built there. The story of the name thus connects a landscape feature with a structure and adds to the area's other historical themes.

Pijácký balvan is a stone at the edge of the forest where glass workers from Doubravice met during the First Republic. Alongside the number of workers, this offers a specific place associated with their gatherings.

The Ježkův dům school building was erected in 1840, and classes began there in 1841. The building is named in honor of Karel Ježek and bears a memorial plaque dedicated to him. The reconciliation crosses between Doubravice and Zábřezí are associated with a locally passed-down story about Matěj Neumann from Doubravice and Kryštof Pecka from Zábřezí. Different forms of remembrance stand side by side here: a dated school building with a personal memorial, and crosses linked to a story.

The Sokolský tábor Ježkov site is also located in the forest between Doubravice and Zábřezí. It is used annually for Sokol summer camps.

Rocks, Forest and Ponds

Čertovy hrady is a protected natural monument featuring rock formations and an extensive boulder field. Green-marked hiking and cycling trails run through the forest near Čertovy hrady; Doubravice is 2.5 kilometers away. This nearby nature destination offers both rocky landscapes and forest trails. Check the condition of the trails and their markings before setting out.

Zátlucké rybníky offer a different kind of setting: a peaceful spot in the middle of the forest near Doubravice. There is a pavilion and benches by the ponds. While rocks and a boulder field define Čertovy hrady, the ponds and the facilities along the shore are part of the setting described at Zátlucké rybníky.

Plan by Bike and Bus

Cycle route 4136, part of the “Na kole krajem K. J. Erbena” excursion, passes through Doubravice. The route itinerary lists 1.5 kilometers between Zálesí and Doubravice, and 2 kilometers between Doubravice and Zábřezí. These figures refer to those two sections of the route and provide a specific indication of their length. Check local trail conditions and signage before setting off.

Bus line 692417 is scheduled to operate from April 1 to December 12, 2026, on the route Dvůr Králové n. L.–Doubravice–Dubenec–Velichovky–Dvůr Králové n. L. If you plan to use the bus, check the timetable for your specific travel date. For later dates, check again whether the service is still valid.
