Mokrovousy lies on the left bank of the Bystřice stream and along the 1866 battlefield route between Chlum and Hrádek Castle. Its riverside location and historical context offer two distinct perspectives on the place. There are also monuments from different periods, an archaeological site, and a connection to nature conservation focused on the thick-shelled river mussel.

The Bystřice and the Battlefield Route

The Bystřice is more than just a geographical reference point. The European Site of Community Importance EVL CZ0523264 Bystřice was designated in 2004 to protect the thick-shelled river mussel found in the Bystřice. For travelers interested in nature, this connects the specific riverside setting with a named species and a clear conservation goal. This conservation focus gives the river its own ecological significance alongside the historical route.

The 1866 battlefield route between Chlum and Hrádek Castle places Mokrovousy in a defined historical context. This connection differs from the monuments and finds at the site: the route points to the history of the battlefield, while local landmarks convey different stories and periods. When planning your stay around a particular theme, you can therefore weigh the river and species protection against the area's historical connections.

Monuments, Archaeological Site and Places of Remembrance

The sandstone monument to Saint Anthony of Padua in Mokrovousy dates from 1745. After the castle in Sadová burned down, the statue was moved to Mokrovousy in 1777; since June 24, 2002, it has been protected as a monument. The three dates mark different stages: its creation, relocation, and protected status. This makes it possible to place the statue's history in chronological order without confusing these events.

The Harrachovská studna is also a technical monument in Mokrovousy. This adds a different type of monument to the history of the statue of Saint Anthony: one is a statue with a dated creation, relocation, and protected status, while the other is a technical monument.

Archaeological finds at the “Pod kostelem” site provide evidence of a prehistoric settlement. A monument erected in 1928 commemorates eleven citizens of Mokrovousy who fell at the front. Together, these connections span prehistoric settlement, the monument history of the 18th century, and remembrance in the 20th century. They represent different chapters in the history of the place: traces of settlement, monuments, and remembrance.

A Practical Point of Interest

A children's playground was built beside the “Na koupališti” kiosk in 2011. Seating was available at the kiosk during the summer months from August 2011 onward. If you plan to use this seating, check its current availability in advance.

When planning your trip, you can weigh two main themes against each other: the Bystřice and species protection on the one hand, and the battlefield route and local monuments on the other. The historical connections also span everything from prehistoric settlement to the memorial erected in 1928. You can therefore choose the starting point for your stay based on whether you are more interested in nature or in the different periods of local history.
