Church architecture, protected areas and historic routes come together in Dublovice. Named cycling and hiking routes add specific itineraries to these themes. Dublovice is part of the Toulava tourist region.

Church and Building History

The Church of the Most Holy Trinity complex is located in Malá Strana, the southwestern part of Dublovice. It includes an oval cemetery and a site surrounded by a massive stone wall with three entrances. The mortuary chapel is incorporated into the perimeter wall; the Empire-style crypt of the Pistorius family is also part of the complex. The different structures give the church complex a layered character: the cemetery, perimeter wall, mortuary chapel and crypt are each distinct elements.

Farmstead No. 22 is also in the southern part of Dublovice, in what is thought to be the oldest settlement area around the church. Its gateway features Late Gothic forms and dates from no later than the 17th century. Its style and dating provide two different clues to the building’s history: the Late Gothic forms describe the gateway’s design, while the dating establishes the latest possible period of its origin. The settlement area around the church is considered the oldest, though this is not certain.

Protected Area and Pond

The Jezero Nature Reserve is located within the cadastral area of Dublovice and covers 7.09 hectares. It protects a pond that is home to a rich variety of rare and specially protected insects, amphibians, reptiles and birds. The area is also an important bird breeding site and is significant for the biodiversity of communities in the landscape. For travellers who take nature into account when choosing a destination, Jezero represents the protection of different animal groups and habitats.

Musík Pond offers a different connection with nature and history. Its water surface covers 49.9 hectares, and the pond is attributed to the pond builder Jakub Krčín of Jelčany and Sedlčany. Jezero and Musík thus represent different themes: the nature reserve is associated with biodiversity and breeding sites, while Musík is associated with its large water surface and the pond’s attributed construction.

Cycling and Hiking Routes

The 4 km-long cycle route 8134 leads from Chlum near Nalžovice via Musík Pond to Dublovice. Cycle route 8133 also passes through Dublovice, following the route Sedlčany – Příčovy – Dublovice – Chramosty. The two routes can be distinguished by their different courses: 8134 connects Chlum, Musík and Dublovice; 8133 passes through the town along the named sequence of places.

A blue-marked hiking trail also passes through Dublovice, following the route Skrýšov – Zrůbek – Zvírotice – Křepenice. In addition to the numbered cycle routes, there is therefore a hiking route with its own marking and a named sequence of places. When comparing route options, you can distinguish the designated cycling route from the blue-marked hiking trail without treating their courses as the same.

Historic Routes

The Prague–Bechyně Road, one of the oldest routes in Slavic Bohemia, ran through the cadastral area of Dublovice. Another historic transport route is the Zrůbek–Sedlčany Road: it was used to transport salt from the Vltava River at Zrůbek to Sedlčany and beyond. The two routes represent different aspects of transport history: the Prague–Bechyně Road is distinguished by its historical classification, while the Zrůbek–Sedlčany Road is distinguished by its role in salt transport.

Dublovice offers several themes to consider when planning a trip: a richly detailed church complex, a settlement area that is thought to be ancient, connections to a protected area and ponds, and routes with distinct courses. Depending on whether building history, nature or routes are the main interest, different aspects of the town come into focus.
