The Klobouček Forest Nature Trail, Cycle Route 8198, the Koupaliště outdoor swimming pool, and the Church of St. Simon and Jude represent different sides of Obecnice. Nature and forest themes meet cycling, an outdoor swimming pool, and architectural history. You can therefore plan your trip around the themes that interest you locally.

Nature Trails and Cycling

The Klobouček Forest Nature Trail starts and ends at the visitor car park by the Obecnice football pitch. Its twelve stops provide information about the Brdy, forestry, and the area’s tree species composition, as well as its plant life, wildlife, hunting, and water retention in the landscape. The topics therefore range from natural habitats to human use and water management. If you are particularly interested in one of these aspects, you will find a variety of topics along the trail.

In a pilot program in 2023, a free augmented reality app was used on the nature trail. At selected points in the forest, it displayed a red deer, a fox, or a tawny owl. If you would like to use this digital addition, check in advance whether the app is currently available.

The Fabiánova stezka also runs through Obecnice. The nature trail introduces tourists and cyclists to local sights and excursion destinations in the Podbrdsko region. Another option for planning a cycling trip is Cycle Route 8198, which is 9.5 kilometres long and connects Láz and Obecnice. The two options serve different stated purposes: the Fabiánova stezka presents sights and excursion destinations, while the cycle route has a specified distance. The virtual GEOFUN nature trail is also located near Obecnice. Check whether the app is currently available if you would like to use it.

Koupaliště Obecnice Outdoor Swimming Pool

Koupaliště Obecnice has a 50 × 20 metre concrete pool fed by the Obecnický Stream. The bottom slopes gently, and the pool is suitable for swimmers and non-swimmers. The grounds include a well-maintained lawn, privacy screens for changing, toilets for up to 200 people, refreshments, and a children’s play area with a small pool. Leisure facilities also include tennis, volleyball, and football tennis. Individual facilities may change. If you are planning a visit to the pool, check which services are currently available before you go.

Church and Local History

The Church of St. Simon and Jude is Obecnice’s most important landmark and dates from 1807. Its tower dates from 1825, and two side chapels were added in 1854. The interior also offers a glimpse into the building’s history: features include a valuable Neoclassical pulpit from the late 18th century and Empire-style doors in the west portal. The pulpit therefore predates the church building. Those interested in architectural history can trace different historical layers at this named landmark.

Brdy Protected Landscape Area

Part of the municipality of Obecnice lies within the CHKO Brdy Protected Landscape Area, established on 1 January 2016. The features designated for protection include valuable forest stands, meadows, wetlands, heathland, and numerous streams. The protected area description thus covers a range of landscape types; it applies to part of the municipality, not all of Obecnice. Together with the nature trail’s themes, this offers another way to explore the landscape around the village.
