Tišice lies in the Polabská nížina on the right bank of the Elbe. There are several different ways to enjoy a stay here: the nature trail by the river, old floodplain forests, seasonal waterside recreation and traces of cultural history. This makes it possible to discover the town through nature, water or history. The different themes give you the freedom to tailor your trip to your interests.

Nature between the Elbe and the railway

The Putování tišickou krajinou nature trail is almost seven kilometres long and follows the banks of the Elbe. Thirteen information panels accompany the route, and a quiz brings the trail to a close. In this way, the route combines a riverside walk with a clear thematic framework. If you enjoy including information and a quiz as you walk, you can make the nature trail a particular focus of your visit.

Old floodplain forests along the Elbe invite you to take long walks. Compared with the nature trail, with its panels and quiz, the focus here is on walking through the forest. Both nature attractions are geographically linked to the Elbe, but differ in whether the information panels or the walk itself takes centre stage.

The Písčina u Tišic protected area begins before the railway crossing on the road from Tišice to Kozly and extends for about 0.5 kilometres along the railway towards Mlékojedy. Its location is therefore defined by the road crossing and the railway, rather than by the course of the nature trail along the riverbank. The two lengths refer to different things: the protected area extends for about 0.5 kilometres along the railway, while the nature trail is almost seven kilometres long. This makes it possible to understand the two nature destinations in terms of their respective geographical reference points.

Water, history and getting there

The bodies of water also offer different activities. The lake on the site of a former sand pit in Tišice is used for swimming in summer. Staré Labe is an oxbow lake of the Elbe and is used for fishing. When planning your trip, the lake offers a seasonal focus on swimming, while fishing takes place at Staré Labe. If you are considering travelling in summer, you can take the lake’s swimming facilities into account.

The cultural and historical points of interest range from finds dating far back in time to a specific building. Archaeological finds in Tišice date back to around 5000 BC. In Kozly, the Church of All Saints was built in 1352 in the Early Gothic style; it is a state-protected monument. The early date of the finds and the year the church was built represent very different periods. The church combines a specific year with an architectural classification, while the archaeological finds open up a far older historical horizon.

Tišice is served, among others, by PID bus routes 471 and 472. Route numbers can change, so check the current timetable before travelling. If you are looking for a holiday apartment, consider in advance which of the interests described will shape your trip.
