For a stay in Kly, you can plan around culture, landscapes and outdoor activities at specific places and along particular routes: the Chapel of St. Wenceslas in the village square, the Úpor–Černínovsko Nature Reserve and several routes that pass through the village. Another cultural monument, the Starý labský jez, needs a precise location description: it lies on the southern edge of Obříství but is part of Kly’s cadastral area.

Chapel, church building and technical monument

The Chapel of St. Wenceslas stands right in Kly’s village square and was built in 1886. At the back, it features a colourful relief based on a design by Mikoláš Aleš. Its location, year of construction and relief each offer a different point of reference for exploring the building and its design.

The Starý labský jez (Old Elbe Weir) is notable for its engineering history and structural changes. This protected technical monument was completed in 1912. The original piers remain; the Swarzer structure was dismantled and the movable bridge was raised. Its exact location is important for orientation: the weir lies on the southern edge of Obříství but belongs to Kly’s cadastral area. Unlike the chapel, which is located directly in the village square, the weir therefore requires a two-part location description.

Záboří is another distinct location: the Church of the Nativity of the Virgin Mary stands there, built in 1884 as a single-nave Neo-Renaissance building. It has a single-nave body, a transept and a semicircular apse. The nave is the main space running lengthwise, the transept runs across it, and the apse forms a rounded end.

Nature reserve and routes

The Úpor–Černínovsko Nature Reserve is located within the municipality of Kly. It includes an oxbow lake and pools along a former course of the Elbe. Its habitat types include natural eutrophic waters and muddy riverbanks, as well as moist tall-herb communities, floodplain meadows and extensively mown meadows. It also includes pioneer vegetation on silicate rocks and mixed ash-alder floodplain forests. This diversity brings together water, riverbanks, meadows and woodland as distinct nature themes. If you choose Kly mainly for its landscapes, you can make the nature reserve a focus in its own right, alongside the architectural highlights.

Two numbered cycling routes are described for getting around by bike. Cycle Route 0024 passes through Kly and follows the Stará Boleslav–Neratovice–Kly–Mělník–Brozánky corridor. Cycle Route 8162 also passes through Kly, heading towards Košátky, Dřísy and Křenek. These named sequences of places and directions provide a concrete basis for choosing a route that includes the places you want to visit. Route details may be updated by local authorities, so check the latest local information before setting out.

The Labská Trail runs through Kly, Větrušice and Tuhaň. Trail conditions and temporary detours may change, so check the current route before planning your trip. This lets you identify the trail by the places it passes through without confusing it with the two numbered cycling routes.

An event as a reason to travel

The Kelský biatlon is one of the popular organised events in Kly. If you want to plan your stay around it, check the latest event dates before travelling. This adds a time-sensitive planning consideration to the enduring cultural and landscape highlights.
