Schiedlberg combines a clearly dated building history with works of art from different origins: the parish church of the Annunciation was built under Emperor Joseph II from 1786 to 1790, and its interior contains high-quality Late Baroque furnishings. There is also an extensive network of hiking trails and leisure activities with varying conditions. This allows you to shape your stay around culture, exercise and specific activities.

Late Baroque Art in the Parish Church

The parish church’s furnishings come from dissolved monasteries and churches. The high altar combines Rococo statues with an altarpiece by Franz Xaver Gürtler dating from 1777. The altar was transferred to Schiedlberg in 1839 from the dissolved Cölestinerinnen church in Steyr. This makes it possible to distinguish two different stages in its history: the painting’s creation and the altar’s later transfer.

Franz Josef Altenburg designed the altar, ambo and presider’s chair for the parish church. These specific works of art add another artist and further elements of the church interior to the picture of its Late Baroque furnishings. Those interested in sacred architecture will find points of interest in not only the construction period, but also the named artists, individual furnishings and their origins.

Hiking and Landscape

Schiedlberg has an extensive network of trails for hiking. This offers a distinct focus alongside exploring the parish church’s cultural heritage. Schiedlberg also lies on the watershed between the Ipf streams and the Sala and Mühlbach streams. This geographical feature describes the village’s position in the landscape; the network of trails, in turn, provides practical guidance for anyone who enjoys spending time hiking.

Leisure Activities with Different Conditions

Indoor ice stock sport is available in Schiedlberg in a weather-independent hall. The indoor facility differs from outdoor activities, but its operation may vary seasonally. Check the latest operating information before your visit.

Goldberg Climbing Park has a continuous belay system and is suitable for children aged six and over. Children up to the age of 13 must be accompanied by an adult. If you are planning a visit with children, take this age and supervision rule into account and check the information before travelling.

Since 2012, Segway Goldberg has offered Segway tours through the surrounding area, along trails and routes, directly next to the climbing forest. This is a different way to get around than hiking: you can decide whether you would rather explore on foot or take a Segway tour. Tour packages may change; check in advance which options are currently available.

Brewery and Seasonal Specialties

All beers at Brauhof Goldberg are brewed on site, and seasonal beer specialties are also available. Brewery tours are offered as well. If you are planning a tour, ask about the latest packages and options before your visit.
