Niedernsill combines a connection to nature, active experiences and cultural history across several clearly distinguishable themes. The protected landscape area of Luzialacke borders directly on the natural swimming lake; the Luziapark is also located by the lake, with wooden platforms and hammocks above the water. Other attractions include the gemstone park, archery activities and cultural sites related to the Noriker horse and regional dialect. To plan your stay, you can first consider which of these themes you would like it to revolve around.

By the lake: landscape and designed spaces

The Niedernsill natural swimming lake provides a clear point of reference. The protected landscape area of Luzialacke borders directly on the lake. The Luziapark is also located by the Niedernsill bathing lake, with wooden platforms and hammocks above the water. This brings together a natural setting and designed features by the water, each with its own distinct character.

For orientation, the natural swimming lake is about a ten-minute walk from the central bus and train stops. This approximate walking time is a useful point of reference when considering the lake as part of your stay.

Active discoveries

At the Niedernsill Gemstone Park, more than 80 different gemstones can be found at various stations. The stations provide a clear framework for the search, with discovering the different stones at its heart.

The BSC Niedernsill archery course is about 3 km long and has 32 targets; a shorter round with 20 targets is also available. The shorter round has fewer targets than the course, for which an approximate distance is also given. This lets you choose according to the scope you prefer, without assuming a specific duration. The activities also differ in format: searching for gemstones at stations or practising archery on a course.

The BSC Niedernsill 3D archery course features 28 lifelike foam animal targets. In addition to the course length and number of targets, the design of the targets is another specific consideration: the animal motifs shape the character of this archery activity.

Noriker horses and regional dialect

The Niedernsill Noriker Horse Museum presents the natural and cultural history of the Noriker horse. The Tauriska Dialect Archive offers a different way to explore regional culture. It contains older and contemporary regional dialect literature in books and manuscripts, as well as local-history and folklore materials.

The museum and archive have different focuses: the museum centres on the history of the Noriker horse, while the archive focuses on regional language, local history and folklore. When choosing cultural activities, you can weigh up a focused history of the horse against a broader look at dialect and regional heritage.
