Entre Ríos is legally designated Argentina’s national capital of thermal circuits. Its focus on thermal tourism is also reflected in its size: more than 125 pools are spread across 16 thermal complexes. Facilities and figures can change, so it is a good idea to check the latest conditions before visiting. The hot springs offer a distinctive introduction to the province, but Entre Ríos can also be explored through its protected areas, cultural sites, outdoor activities and regional cuisine.
Hot Springs and Protected Areas
Parque Nacional El Palmar protects more than 8,200 hectares of the Espinal and Pampas ecoregions and includes wetlands of international importance. Parque Nacional Pre-Delta protects more than 2,600 hectares of the Delta e Islas del Paraná ecoregion, also with wetlands of international importance. The names highlight different themes: Espinal and Pampas on the one hand, Delta e Islas del Paraná on the other. Together, the two parks showcase distinct ecological areas that help shape the natural landscape of Entre Ríos.
Architecture and History
Palacio San José is a significant example of mid-19th-century Italianate architecture in Argentina and is currently home to the Museo Nacional “Justo José de Urquiza”. Architectural history and its present-day use as a museum come together at this site. Museo Provincial Molino Forclaz offers a different perspective on history: visitors can explore the inside of the windmill and the old residence. The museum’s sheds contain agricultural tools and a malacate. The visit therefore ranges from a notable building to objects from everyday agricultural life.
Outdoor Activities
Parque aéreo de San José has a zip line more than 300 meters long, games, a children’s windmill, a plant nursery and an ecological area for family recreation. Comfortable clothing is recommended for physical activities. The zip line, games and nature-focused features give the park a range of activities. Parque Gazzano is a recreational area in a landscape with a lake. At Jardín Botánico, you can stroll among native trees, shrubs and plants. Together, these places offer different ways to enjoy the outdoors in Entre Ríos: taking part in a specific activity, spending time in a lakeside landscape or walking among native plants.
Villa Paranacito offers a water-focused experience, with boat, yacht and catamaran trips along rivers, streams and other waterways. Getting there is also straightforward: from Buenos Aires, Villa Paranacito is accessible via National Routes 9 and 12, a distance of 175 kilometers.
Culture and Regional Cuisine
Carnaval de Gualeguaychú is an open-air theatrical spectacle featuring floats, music, rhythm and the colors of the comparsas. As a cultural event, it offers a different experience from the protected areas and outdoor activities. The cuisine also offers a distinctive way to explore the province: it includes asado criollo and asado con cuero, cheeses, escabeches, sweets, tortas fritas, alfajores and fresh fish. From asados to sweets and fish, Entre Ríos offers a varied selection of regional dishes.
