From there, a hiking trail runs along the eastern slope of the Sertig Valley to Sertig Dörfli; at Clavadeleralp, a show dairy, alpine cheese, and alpine butter add to the outing. Planned routes can be a useful starting point when choosing accommodation: you can plan your visit on foot, by bike, or with a focus on the historic buildings in Sertig.

Hiking trail and architectural heritage in Sertig

The hiking trail along the eastern slope of the Sertig Valley leads from Clavadel to Sertig Dörfli. Sections pass through larch and spruce forests; farther up the valley, there are panoramic mountain views of Hoch Ducan (3,063 m above sea level), Mittaghorn (2,735 m above sea level), and Plattenflue (3,013 m above sea level).

Sertig Dörfli is home to typical Walser houses with traditional granaries raised on stilts. The year 1699 is inscribed beneath the gable of Sertig Church; the church still belongs to the valley’s farming families. The little church welcomes visitors for devotions and family celebrations. The 1699 Hinter den Eggen Chapel also stands near Sertig Dörfli.

Clavadel’s history

The Clavadel private sanatorium opened in 1903. Historical information boards erected by the municipality of Davos are also displayed at Clavadel Clinic. The place name is associated with the Romansh word clavau, meaning hay barn. Clavadel’s historical traces thus add a second focus to the buildings and routes in Sertig during your stay.
