Stockamöllan lies on the Rönne å, whose water power has been used for mills and industry for centuries. Its distinctive surroundings include watermills, old quarries and ancient monuments; Stockamöllan is also home to unusually rich flora and fauna. The mill and water system form a unique cultural and historical setting with very ancient origins. When looking for a holiday apartment, you can first consider whether cultural history, walks or paddling should be the focus of your stay.

Mill History and Historical Traces

Several watermills in Stockamöllan operated for centuries, from 1385 until Rönnemölla ceased operations in 1996. There has been a mill on the site of the industrial museum since the Middle Ages; the industrial museum itself opened in 1992. It presents the history and development of the region and of the company Stockamöllan AB. In this way, the long-standing use of water power and the company’s history offer two distinct historical perspectives.

Another historical trace is the Stenbocksstenen. It marks the spot where Magnus Stenbock and his army crossed the Rönne å on foot in 1710, on their way to the Battle of Helsingborg. This connection to the river adds a specific event from 1710 to the mill history.

Walks and Trails

Five walking trails, ranging from 1 to 6 kilometres, start at the bridge by the industrial museum. This range lets you compare the distances directly when choosing a trail. The Skåneleden runs just north of Stockamöllan.

The approximately 9-kilometre Stenbrottsrundan is more difficult to walk than the other circular trails and is not suitable for pushchairs. The area around Stockamöllan, Billinge and Stehag also has many gravel roads with almost no traffic, as well as several walking and cycling paths. These routes lie in the wider area around the three towns and offer another option for planning walks or bike rides.

Paddling on the Rönne å

Kanotcentralen in Stockamöllan rents canoes for one-day or multi-day paddling trips on the Rönne å. Check opening hours and seasonal availability before travelling. The river offers both calm waters and lively little rapids. Conditions may vary depending on the season and weather, so take this into account when planning your trip.

A one-day canoe trip from Stockamöllan to Djupdalsmölla is 12 kilometres long and takes beginners four hours at a leisurely pace. On the Stockamöllan–Skäralid route, the Skåneleden passes 500 metres south of the canoe landing. Since distances and routes may change, check your route before setting out.

Getting There and Planning Your Stay

Regional bus route 518 between Klippan and Stehag stops in Stockamöllan. Routes and timetables may change, so check the connection before you travel. When looking for a holiday apartment, it helps to decide first whether you want to focus on mill history, walks or a paddling trip.
