Shallow saltwater swimming in the sea, a 120-metre-long bathing jetty and marked trails through the dunes give Skummeslövsstrand several distinctive features. When planning your stay, you can consider whether swimming, nature trails or the local orchard should be the deciding factor. The coast and nature reserves offer different themes for planning your day, while the fruktlund has its own connection to fruit and berries.

Swimming: sea, jetty and outdoor pool

There are shallow saltwater swimming areas in the sea. A 120-metre-long bathing jetty is located below Stora Strandvägen. The Skummeslövsbryggan has an accessibility-adapted ramp and a bathing platform. The historic Skummeslövsbadet outdoor pool is 50 metres from the sea and was inaugurated in 1961. These features help distinguish the swimming spots: the length refers to the bathing jetty, the ramp and platform to the Skummeslövsbryggan, and the outdoor pool is a separate landmark, identified by its location relative to the sea and its year of inauguration. If you plan to visit the outdoor pool, check its current opening hours in advance.

Dunes and pine forest

The Svarvareskogen nature reserve is in the southern part of Skummeslövsstrand. Several marked walking trails lead through the dune landscape; parking is available by the tennis courts. The area recalls the struggle against the sand. The Norra Skummeslöv nature reserve is also in the Skummeslövsstrand area. It is characterised by planted pine forest on a former shifting-sand field, crisscrossed by well-trodden paths. It lies along the coastal road between Mellbystrand and Skummeslövsstrand. The landscapes offer different themes: Svarvareskogen combines dune trails with the memory of the struggle against the sand, while Norra Skummeslöv features pine forest on former shifting sand. For a walk, the marked trails in one reserve provide different wayfinding from the well-trodden paths in the other.

Routes and getting around

The Kattegattleden passes by the Södra Skummeslöv nature reserve. The reserve’s car park is 500 metres from the crossing at Allarpsvägen. The “Skummeslövsstrand” bus stop is also located near the nature reserve, one kilometre away. Another route is Kustslingan Skummeslövsstrand–Båstad, which runs through the forest and along the sea and is suitable for trail running. This gives you a clear contrast when choosing a route: for the Kattegattleden, the reserve’s location is the key point of reference, while the Kustslingan focuses on its forest and coastal route and its suitability for trail running.

Fruit and berries at the fruktlund

In 2022, the municipality established an orchard around a pond on Västkustvägen in Skummeslövsstrand. It includes fruit trees and berry bushes, as well as strawberries and hazelnuts. According to the municipal information, updated on 18 November 2025, visitors are allowed to pick fruit, berries, strawberries and hazelnuts. The fruktlund thus adds a specific opportunity to pick produce to the coastal and nature-related attractions. When deciding how the area fits into your trip, you can choose between swimming spots, trails through different landscapes and a municipal orchard, each offering a distinct experience.
