In Galindo y Perahuy, architectural history, archaeological traces and farming heritage come together. The parish church of Santo Tomás Apóstol was built in 1835; dolmen remains in the municipality are considered evidence of settlement dating back to prehistoric times. An ethnographic collection and a landscape with distinct agricultural specializations add to these themes. This places local history and rural work side by side as distinct, readily comparable perspectives.

Architectural history and farming life

The traditional farmhouse “Casa de labranza tradicional” offers a distinctive way to explore rural history. Its corrals and livestock shelters house an ethnographic collection. It includes agricultural equipment and livestock-raising tools and utensils. The exhibits feature a blacksmith’s forge, feeding troughs and a bread oven. Tools used for fieldwork and animal husbandry are displayed alongside facilities that illustrate other aspects of farming life.

The permanent exhibition is linked to an annual demonstration of mowing and threshing. If this is important to your travel plans, ask in advance when the next demonstration will take place. The parish church and dolmen remains offer a different perspective on the past: while the church dates to 1835, the dolmens are considered evidence of much earlier settlement.

A landscape shaped by farming and livestock raising

Galindo y Perahuy has fertile land, but its agricultural character differs between west and east. The western part is dominated by agriculture and belongs to Armuña Chica; livestock raising is predominant in the east. This contrast shows two distinct focuses within the municipality, rather than reducing the rural landscape to a single form of land use. Watercourses are also part of the landscape: La Rivera is one of two intermittent streams that cross the municipality.

Festivities and sporting opportunities

Celebrations in honor of the patron saint, Santo Tomás, are also a part of local life. Such celebrations took place in 2023; activities for the Fiestas de Santo Tomás 2026 were scheduled for July 2 to 5. The program included cultural, sporting and entertainment activities for all sections of the population. The finals of the III padel tournaments for young people and for veterans were also scheduled. This information relates to the 2026 program; if you are planning a future trip, check the latest festival dates separately.

The municipal frontón can be used for frontenis or basketball. Use is possible with advance reservation, by email or by phone, Monday to Friday from 09:00 to 14:00. An access code is then issued. Check the municipality’s current contact details before making plans. This lets you include sports in your itinerary as a specific activity, rather than assuming you can use the facilities without notice.
