Miami Platja offers several distinct ways to shape your trip: coves and beaches, walks by the sea, water sports, and a wetland with its own natural and historical significance. When choosing where to stay, it helps to keep these focuses separate. That way, you can decide whether you want to spend your days mainly by the coast, on a walking route, or exploring culture and regional cuisine, without trying to fit everything into a single outing.

Coast, wetland and history

L’Estany Gelat is one of the few wetlands on the coast of Tarragona and is part of the Natura 2000 network. It is home to the fartet, a small, endemic fish threatened with extinction. L’Estany Gelat beach is also home to a bunker from the Spanish Civil War. The protected area and the fish highlight the natural features; the bunker adds a specific historical dimension.

The focus is different at Platja Cristall: the beach stands out for its length and lack of crowds. At Club de Mar, you can go kayaking, paddle surfing and enjoy other water sports. This makes it easy to distinguish between activities on the water and the nature or history associated with L’Estany Gelat. If you want to decide what to prioritise during your stay, these are two distinct focuses to consider when choosing where to stay.

Walks and paths by the sea

Passeig de les Cales runs along all the coves of Miami Platja, from Cala dels Àngels to Cala dels Penyals. It offers a pleasant setting for walks by the sea, with unobstructed access and a convenient route for wheelchair users. Alongside activities on the water, it offers a way to enjoy walks along the coves.

Route 6 follows a different course: it runs on foot through the centre of Miami Platja and along its waterfront, and also includes L’Estany Gelat. When choosing a route, you can decide whether you want to focus mainly on the coves or take a route that includes the town centre, waterfront and wetland. The two descriptions offer different guidance for planning, without requiring you to follow a fixed itinerary for the day.

Local culture and cuisine

The Church of Santa María Magdalena dates from 1964. Together with the bunker on L’Estany Gelat beach, it offers two distinct historical points of interest: a church with a specific date and a structure associated with the Spanish Civil War. These cultural and historical themes complement the focus on the landscape and walking routes.

Gastronomy adds a specific focus on octopus. The 18th Jornades Gastronòmiques del Pop took place in 2026 in Mont-roig and Miami Platja. Participating restaurants served dishes, menus or tapas featuring octopus. For food lovers, the 18th edition offers a specific connection to a particular time; it adds regional cuisine to the range of travel experiences.
