Arànser can be explored through a range of travel interests: cross-country skiing and snowshoeing at the Aransa Nordic ski resort, the Romanesque church of Sant Martí d’Arànser in the village centre, and destinations in the upper Arànser Valley. The season and the activities you have in mind offer practical guidance when planning your stay and looking for accommodation.

Winter and summer at the ski resort

The Aransa Nordic ski resort is located in the village of Arànser, in the municipality of Lles de Cerdanya. It has 32 kilometres of cross-country ski trails at elevations between 1,850 and 2,150 metres. In winter, cross-country skiing and snowshoeing are among the main activities. Aransa’s circular routes pass through dense stands of black pine and across alpine meadows. The area includes Naturpark, the ski resort’s high-altitude nature centre. In summer, it is open to families and nature lovers.

Mirador and Estanys de la Pera

The traditional footpath to the Mirador del Pla de Llet starts at Fornell. The marked trail leads to the viewpoint in about an hour. In winter, the Mirador can be reached from the Nordic ski resort on skis or snowshoes. From there, the view takes in the entire Cerdanya Valley and the Sierra del Cadí. The same viewpoint can therefore be reached by different routes: on foot from Fornell, or from the ski resort in winter.

The Estanys de la Pera are two lakes in a small glacial cirque at the upper end of the Arànser Valley. To reach them, travel from Martinet along the LV-4036 towards Lles, then take the road to Arànser and a paved track to Fornell. During the summer periods with especially high visitor numbers, a shuttle bus usually operates there. Check whether it is running at the time of your visit before setting out.

Font de les Pollineres is a starting point for the marked trail to the lakes. Ascents to nearby peaks also start here, including Perafita, Tossal de la Truita, Monturull, Torreta del Soldat and Tossal Bovinar. The Font itself is a recreational area with barbecue spots, stone picnic tables and a small mountain refuge.

Sant Martí d’Arànser in the village centre

The church of Sant Martí d’Arànser stands in the centre of Arànser. The village lies at the end of the valley of the same name, at an elevation of 1,470 metres. The church is Romanesque in origin and has a rectangular floor plan with a single nave. The present building was completely remodelled in the 18th century; the date 1720 is inscribed at the entrance. Its Romanesque origins and the complete remodelling mark two distinct phases of construction.

A metal structure with two bells that strike the hours stands on the roof. The church is 24.05 metres high. Together, the floor plan, remodelling and inscription provide specific clues for distinguishing its earlier origins from the form of the present building.

Mountain biking routes and dining

The Martinet–Lles–Martinet mountain biking route is considered fully rideable. Another challenging mountain biking circuit is 23.7 kilometres long and runs from Martinet through Travesseres and Músser to Arànser, then on to Lles. The length and difficulty rating of the circuit help distinguish it from the Martinet–Lles–Martinet route.

El Fornell is located on the ski slopes at an elevation of 2,000 metres. It serves homemade dishes, grilled meat and grilled vegetables. As availability varies by season, check what is on offer before your trip.

Arànser can be reached via a local road from Martinet through Travesseres and Lles, or from Músser.
