Cherry orchards, Mediterranean forests and red rock formations shape various routes in Torrelles De Llobregat. When planning, consider which landscape and type of outing you are looking for: a walking or mountain biking loop, a geological climb, or cultural and leisure activities.

Routes through Cherry Orchards, Forests and Valleys

The Ruta de la Cirera passes through a mosaic of fields, mostly planted with cherry trees, abandoned fields and Aleppo pine forest. The landscape is also home to typical Mediterranean flora and fauna. The Ruta de Can Reinal has a different focus: it runs on both sides of the Can Reinal Valley, alongside the built-up area of Torrelles; the Torrent de Can Reinal crosses the valley.

The Ruta del Sol Blau is a circular route through the municipality that you can explore on foot or by mountain bike. For mountain bikes, there are some alternative sections that do not follow the narrow paths. The route passes through dense Aleppo pine and holm oak forests, as well as fruit-growing areas with a particularly large number of cherry trees. Its landscape features include wide views over the Llobregat Delta and Barcelonès, striking rock faces and red rock formations. Trail conditions can change; check them before setting out.

Rock Formations and Geological Zones

At 467 metres, Puig Vicenç is the highest point in Torrelles de Llobregat and the Serra de Can Güell. The ascent from Torrelles to the mountain passes through three geological zones: slate, red conglomerate and limestone. On this route, the changing geology is as much a feature as the high-altitude destination.

The area's erosion-sculpted landscapes reveal other striking formations. The 369-metre-high Penya Bruguera is made of reddish conglomerate; erosion has created distinctive shapes there, as well as rock overhangs and caves near the Balma de Can Masset de Dalt. Les Penyes de Can Riera are 353-metre-high red rock formations. A hiking trail crosses the area on its way to Puig Vicenç; from Torrelles, the mountain can be reached via a path starting at the hamlet of Mas.

Springs are also part of the local landscape: Torrelles has 44 recognised springs. Some are considered of interest for their landscape or ecotourism value; 16 have an average flow of at least one litre per minute over the year.

Church, Tradition and Festival

The parish church of Sant MartĂ is a neo-Gothic building inaugurated in 1900. La Moixiganga de Torrelles offers another glimpse of local cultural life: this allegorical dance depicts the Passion, death and Resurrection of Christ in eight tableaux.

The Festa de la Cirera has been organised in Torrelles since 1980 and was originally dedicated to the end of the cherry harvest. The festival includes a cherry exhibition, a cherry market and a craft fair. If you are planning to visit for the Festa, check the date and programme in advance, as some events may vary.

Catalonia in Miniature and Forest Activities

Catalunya en Miniatura showcases Catalonia's most representative monuments and buildings along a route of scale models. It is considered the only attraction of its kind in Catalonia to have been recognised as being of national tourist interest. The site also includes Bosc Animat, an adventure forest for all ages: you can climb among the trees, scale a pine trunk and try a zip line.

Catalunya en Miniatura also offers more than 66 activities among the trees, spread across four adventure courses of varying difficulty. You can complete them independently under the supervision of specialised instructors. So, alongside the walk among the models, there are active options at different levels of difficulty.

The Cherry as a Culinary Theme

The Festa de la Cirera also celebrates the local importance of cherries through food. Since 2007, it has included a Ruta Gastronòmica, highlighting the culinary side of the cherry as the area's most important local produce. Together with the cherry exhibition and market, it forms a distinct part of the festival. If you are planning your trip around it, keep an eye on the programme as well as the festival dates.
