Cherry blossom trails and Romanesque buildings give a stay in Sant Climent De Llobregat two distinctive highlights: outdoors, routes wind among cherry trees and through Mediterranean woodland, while the church, chapel, masia and museum in the town and its surroundings tell different stories of local history.
Cherry Blossoms and Trails Through the Countryside
When the cherries blossom, their flowers turn the valleys of the Riera de Salom white. The Ruta turística del cirerer en flor starts at Plaça de la Vila. Along the Camí Ral section, it climbs via Camí de l'Angla, passes cherry trees in the Querol sector and reaches the new wooden footbridge at Estret de Roques. On the descent, the route passes through the Sant Ramon mountain sector and continues to the Masia de Can Molins.
Strolling through the cherry orchards in bloom is also part of the local landscape experience: these walks have taken place during cherry blossom season since 2006. On various routes, local farmers accompany residents and visitors among the cherry trees, offering a chance to experience the landscapes of the Sant Climent mountains. Alongside a set route, guided walks through the cherry-growing countryside are also available.
Church, Chapel and Agricultural Heritage
At the Església de Sant Climent, part of the bell tower of a 10th-century church has been preserved. The bell tower of Sant Climent is the only fully preserved Romanesque bell tower in Baix Llobregat. Visitors interested in Romanesque architecture will find a clear point of interest here; elsewhere, the agricultural heritage is especially vivid in the preserved features of a farmstead.
The single-nave Ermita del Roser was built in 1955 and renovated in 1985. An Aplec is held there every year on the first Sunday in October; the chapel opens for this October gathering. A route from Sant Climent passes through Mediterranean woodland to the Ermita. The scenery along this trail differs from that of the cherry blossom route, with its cherry trees and wooden footbridge.
At the Masia de Can Molins, the history of the main house is connected with traces of agricultural production. The keystones of the arch above the main entrance bear the date 1709. The masia also includes a chapel originally dedicated to Sant Miquel: construction began in 1773, and it was blessed and inaugurated in 1777. Preserved features related to agricultural production include the threshing floor, olive press, wine press and animal stalls.
The Museu d'Eines del Pagès occupies three large rooms on the ground floor and the courtyard of the rectory attached to the church. It mainly displays agricultural tools, carts, household items and kitchen furniture from the 19th century. The museum thus complements the architectural evidence at the masia with objects from agricultural and domestic life.
Cherry Culture and Events
The Festa de les Cireres celebrates local cherries and includes tastings and the chance to buy different varieties. It takes place on the last weekend of May each year; the exact date may vary from year to year. The October Aplec at the Ermita del Roser is another recurring event. If you plan your stay around either celebration, check the relevant date before making your plans.
More Trails and How to Get There
A walk to the Ermita de Sant Ramon can start in Sant Climent and pass via l'Angla, the new bridge at Estret de Roques and a forest track that begins at the foot of the new wooden structure. From the viewpoint by the Ermita, you can see the whole Delta del Llobregat; on clear days, Mallorca may also be visible. This route adds a far-reaching viewpoint to the trails in the cherry-growing area.
Sant Climent de Llobregat can be reached via the BV.2003 country road from Viladecans or the BV.2004 from Sant Boi. Both roads meet in the town centre.
