Torelló can be explored through a range of different themes: its museums tell the story of crafts and local history, while two walking routes, with clearly stated distances and times, make planning in Vall del Ges easier. If you are looking for accommodation in Torelló, you can base your choice on whether you mainly want to discover places in the town or devote a larger part of your trip to walking.

Two walking routes, two time estimates

The PR C-45 Vall del Ges starts and finishes at Plaça de la Sardana in Torelló. The 22.3-kilometre route connects Torelló with Sant Vicenç de Torelló and Sant Pere de Torelló; the stated duration is 5 hours and 35 minutes. The PR C-47 Camí Vora-Ges is listed as the shorter route, at 18.10 kilometres and 3 hours and 50 minutes. The difference is 4.2 kilometres and 1 hour 45 minutes in the stated duration—a concrete comparison when considering how much time to set aside for a walk during your trip.

The routes also have different points of focus. The Camí Vora-Ges follows the River Ges between Torelló and Vidrà, passing Fontsanta and Forat Micó. Its starting point is in Torelló’s sports area, next to the confluence of the Ges and Ter rivers. The PR C-45, by contrast, connects three named places and returns to its starting point in Torelló. Signposting and trail conditions may change; check both before setting out.

Industrial history and places in town

The Museu de la Torneria is located in the former Can Vidal factory. It explores the industrialisation of Catalonia through the craft of turning wood and horn: with industrialisation, this craft became a complementary branch of the textile industry. The process of turning a tree trunk into a loom bobbin, a warp-thread spool or a spinning-machine spindle illustrates the production process. The focus here is on a specific craft and its connection to the textile industry.

In the historic centre, old houses with round-arched doorways or carved lintels recall local family lineages, including Codolosa, Parrella, Pujols, Vinyes and Calveria. Other dates point to different historical landmarks: the Church of Sant Feliu de Torelló was already in existence in 881, and the Teatre Cirvianum dates from 1925. The Museu de l’ADET opened in 1948 and is located in the parish church’s attic. Its collection includes archaeological, historical and artistic objects, tools from local trades, minerals, coins and plans of old roads.

The Santuari de Rocaprevera and Castell de Torelló also represent different aspects of the townscape. The current sanctuary building was constructed from 1924 onwards to a design by Josep M. Pericas. The castle stands on a hill as the valley’s furthest-reaching vantage point. The only visible remnant of the castle is a truncated tower, dated to 821.

Markets and local events

Torelló’s weekly market dates back to 1270 and takes place on Wednesdays near the municipal market grounds. The Mercat del Trasto is a separate event: held on the second Sunday in May, it offers second-hand goods and furniture from private owners. The Aplec de Rocaprevera is considered Torelló’s second local festival and runs from Saturday to Monday on the third weekend of September. Market dates and annual programmes may change, so check the latest information for your travel dates.

Getting there and practical information

Torelló railway station is a five-minute walk from the Museu de la Torneria. If you are travelling by train, check the timetables separately before your trip. For motorhomes, the Torelló campsite offers twelve parking spaces; its capacity may change. These details complement the choice between local history, markets and walks of different lengths, without prescribing a particular order for your stay.
