Playa de las Américas lies between Arona and Adeje. There are several distinct activities to choose from during your stay: walks and exercise along the seafront promenade, surfing and diving lessons, and golf. Bars, restaurants, cafés and nightclubs along the promenade complement the daytime activities in the evening.

By the sea: promenade and culture

The seafront promenade in Playa de las Américas is ideal for walks at any time of day, between palm trees and sandy beaches. The Paseo marítimo Francisco Andrade Fumero runs along the sea; it is also suitable for cycling, jogging and skating. Along the promenade are sculptures by artists such as Juan López Salvador and Drago Díaz. This coastal path thus combines different ways to exercise with public art.

For personal guidance, the Playa de Las Américas tourist information office offers advice in several languages. It is located at Avenida Rafael Puig Llivina 19 in Arona.

Surf lessons and water activities

Water sports options include surfing and diving lessons. Tenerife Surf Point is based in Playa de las Américas; individuals and groups can learn to surf there. The provider offers surf equipment for beginners and experienced surfers. The equipment available may change, so ask the provider directly in advance about the current equipment.

At Tenerife Surf Point, a two-hour learning and practice session in the water follows the theoretical surf briefing and practice at the school. For planning purposes, the two-hour duration refers to the water session; check the current course schedule directly with the provider.

Spanish Left on Tenerife’s south coast

The wave Spanish Left, also known as Izquierda de las Palmeras, is on Tenerife’s south coast. This long left-hand wave can run for up to 100 metres and can be surfed for much of the year. World Surf League events have been held at this location.

Beaches in the regional context

In the area around Playa de las Américas, El Camisón beach is in the municipality of Arona. It has golden sand, and two breakwaters protect it from the waves. In the regional context of Costa Adeje, Troya I and Troya II are among the most traditional beaches. Both have volcanic sand and usually calm seas.

Golf Las Américas

Golf Las Américas is in the heart of Playa de las Américas. The course has 18 holes and a par of 72. Its terrain is laid out like an amphitheatre facing the sea and offers views of the ocean and the island of La Gomera. The combination of course specifications and its seafront setting makes it a distinct alternative to activities on the water.

Evenings on the promenade

There are bars, restaurants, cafés and nightclubs along the seafront promenade. The bars in Playa de las Américas offer live music in the evenings. Casino de Las Américas is on the ground floor of the Gran Tinerfe Hotel; its games include American roulette, blackjack and poker. The games may change, so check the current offering before visiting.
