Las Galletas combines a dark sand beach, a marina and local fishing and festival traditions. If you are looking for a hotel, it helps to decide first what you want to focus on during your stay: the coast, activities on the water, or food and culture.

Beach and coastal landscape

At Playa de Las Galletas, rounded pebbles meet fine, dark volcanic sand. The Paseo marĂtimo de Las Galletas provides access to the local beach; the Playa can be reached on foot or by car. There are no waves, or only very light ones. However, conditions depend on the weather on any given day.

The protected Malpaís de Rasca is also part of the landscape of the wider Las Galletas–Costa del Silencio coastal area. The beach and the natural area represent different sides of the region: the Playa offers a direct connection to the coast, while Malpaís de Rasca is designated as a protected natural area.

Marina del Sur and activities on the water

Marina del Sur is a marina in Las Galletas and is open to the public. Visitors can use the marina’s facilities and services. Leisure activities associated with the marina include diving, private boat tours, jet skiing, fishing, sailing schools and excursions to observe marine mammals.

At Puerto Deportivo Pesquero Las Galletas, local boat rental companies offer motorboats and sailboats, with or without a skipper. Rental periods range from a few hours to several weeks. Jet ski companies at the harbour offer coastal rides lasting from 40 minutes to several hours. The timeframes mentioned therefore differ considerably: from a shorter coastal ride to a boat charter that can also be booked for longer periods.

Sailing schools at the harbour offer courses in learning to sail; there are also deep-sea or big-game fishing trips. Trips to observe marine mammals are also available from the harbour. Dive Center Tenerife in Las Galletas offers PADI diving, PADI TecRec, PADI snorkelling and PADI First Aid – EFR. Maritime activities therefore range from learning and diving to trips and fishing.

Fish, festivals and local history

Fish is part of several aspects of local life: fishermen work at the landing stage near Playa de Las Galletas. Visitors can buy fresh fish at the Lonja de Pescado near the beach. There are also several restaurants specialising in fresh fish along the Paseo marĂtimo. Buying fish at the market and dining at a restaurant are two different ways to include local fish cuisine in your travel plans.

The Fiestas in honour of San Casiano include festive, entertaining and religious activities. They conclude with a typical lunch of fresh fish and potatoes, popularly known as “Gran Papada”. Las Galletas also has a chapel: San Casiano is the patron saint of the town, and the chapel was blessed in 1932.

The Playa de Las Galletas Tourist Information Office provides in-person information in several languages. As services may change, check the current offering before your visit.
