Calm, sheltered waters and fine golden sand define Playa de Puerto Rico. If you’d like to combine time by the sea with excursions on the water or activities on land, Puerto Rico offers several different options—from the harbour and a promenade to play and leisure areas.
Beach and harbour
At Playa de Puerto Rico, you can hire water sports equipment, sun loungers and parasols. Toilets, showers and foot-washing stations add to the beach facilities. Along with the sheltered waters and sand, these practical amenities are part of what makes this stretch of coast.
Puerto Deportivo de Puerto Rico consists of two harbour basins with a total of six hectares of sheltered water and 531 berths. It accommodates boats up to 60 metres long. The waters off Puerto Rico are suitable for deep-sea fishing, and specially equipped boats for this purpose are available at the harbour.
Water sports and walks
The calm seas and light winds along the coast of Puerto Rico are well suited to diving, parasailing and sailing. Companies offer courses and hire out the necessary equipment. These activities offer a different way to experience the coast from spending time at the beach or harbour.
Puerto Rico Diving Center runs weekly snorkelling trips, giving you the chance to explore the waters of Gran Canaria from the surface. If you’d like to plan a trip, check the dates before you travel.
If you’d rather explore on foot, you can take the roughly one-kilometre-long Paseo MarĂtimo, which connects Puerto Rico with Amadores. The route is easy to walk.
Leisure, play and a break outdoors
Mogán Mall is an open-air shopping centre covering more than 15,000 square metres. It has shops, leisure areas, cafés and restaurants, as well as a large illuminated fountain. The centre combines shopping and dining with other leisure areas, without requiring you to follow any particular itinerary.
Parque Urbano de Puerto Rico reopened after an extensive renovation. Its play areas include accessible and inclusive spaces, including facilities for children with disabilities. The play zones are designed for children up to three years old and for children aged three to fourteen. There is also a picnic area shaded naturally by the existing trees.
Angry Birds Activity Park offers another kind of leisure activity. Its 5,000 square metres feature zip lines, climbing areas, trampolines, mini golf, ice skating, a race track and a splash zone. The activities available may change, so check what’s currently on offer before your visit. With a day pass, you can leave the park and re-enter as often as you like throughout the day. This can be useful if you don’t want to spend your visit there without a break.
Choose Puerto Rico to suit your interests
The different options offer a range of experiences: at the beach, the focus is on sand, sheltered waters and facilities; at the harbour, it’s on boats and deep-sea fishing, among other things. Snorkelling, diving, parasailing and sailing offer more ways to enjoy the water, while the Paseo MarĂtimo provides a specific route for a walk. On land, options range from play areas and a picnic spot to shops, dining and leisure activities. When planning your trip, consider which of these interest you and how much time you’d like to spend on them.
