Mirador del Muro is a balcony suspended above the BĂşbal Reservoir, with views across the valley. Hoz De Jaca combines this striking perspective on the landscape with trails, birdwatching and cultural traditions.

Views over the BĂşbal Reservoir

At an altitude of 1,270 metres, Mirador del Muro also offers views of the reservoir. At Mirador de Hoz de Jaca, you can use binoculars and a telescope to watch migratory birds, large birds of prey and birds that inhabit rocky areas. The Tirolina Valle de Tena zip line also starts at Mirador de Hoz de Jaca: it runs for 950 metres above the BĂşbal Reservoir, at a height of more than 20 metres. If you plan to take part in this activity, check the latest operating and booking information in advance.

Trails through forests, along the river and to mountain lakes

The Camino Frazacoz runs north from Hoz De Jaca to Panticosa. The footpath passes through dense boxwood forest with lush vegetation and lies on the shaded slope. The Camino de Santa Elena y Biescas offers a different landscape: it leads from Hoz De Jaca along the left bank of the Río Gállego to Santa Elena. From there, you can continue along the same bank to Biescas.

The two trails can be distinguished by their described routes: the Camino Frazacoz focuses on forest and the shaded slope, while the Camino de Santa Elena y Biescas follows the riverbank and leads to Santa Elena and Biescas. Solpena also starts in Hoz De Jaca, at the Vicen bridge. A forest track that starts in the municipality leads for about 12 kilometres to the mountain lakes of Sabocos and Asnos and offers exceptional views. The approximate distance and the destinations mentioned give you different points of reference for planning.

The municipal project “Apadrina tu sendero” (“Sponsor Your Trail”) includes the restoration of paths and footpaths for hiking, as well as the care of the ethnographic heritage of the municipality of Hoz De Jaca. Both trails and local cultural heritage are therefore topics you can take into account when planning your trip.

Church, monument and August traditions

The Santos Reyes parish church is a Baroque church dating from the 17th and 18th centuries. Another cultural landmark is the monument to transhumance, which honours this practice. Hoz De Jaca’s festivities are held in August in honour of San Lorenzo. A recurring culinary tradition is a dinner of Oveja a la pastora on 14 August in the village square, prepared by local residents. If you would like to plan your trip around the celebrations, check the specific dates for that year.

Getting there and finding accommodation
