Sládkovičovo combines a protected park area and regional sausage-making traditions with distinctive buildings; the Vincov les thermal baths offer a different focus. These different themes provide concrete points of interest.

Park and nature conservation

Sládkovičovský Park was designated a protected area in 1983; the fourth level of protection applies there. Some of its paths retain their historic routes. This brings a special protection status and an older path layout together in the park. Check the applicable conservation rules before visiting. Future work in the park may alter the paths.

Sládkovičovská duna is listed under Galanta in Slovakia’s official list of nature reserves; its protection status is set out in a 2003 decree.

Castle, church and industrial architecture

The castle associated with the Kuffner family dates from the 17th century and was renovated in 1885. The Roman Catholic church also originated in the early 17th century; renovations took place in 1736, 1786 and 1845. The dates trace two different architectural histories: the castle’s 1885 renovation is a notable date, while several phases of renovation over a longer period are cited for the church.

The Mária Mill, built near Sládkovičovo in 1912, was a prestigious industrial building despite being purely functional in purpose. Its main building has a T-shaped floor plan. The stair tower houses a water tank and is topped by a tall hipped roof. The floor plan, water tank and roof show how functional components shape the building’s distinctive appearance. The mill thus combines a clearly practical purpose with an architectural ambition to impress.

The Sládkovičovo sugar factory complex included a boiler house, warehouses, workshops, horse stables, a boiling house, a sugar refinery and a sugar storehouse. This list brings to life the different components of an industrial complex: alongside processing and refining, there were spaces for storage and workshop activities, as well as other operational buildings. Together with the mill, this theme broadens the view of industrial architecture beyond individual building façades.

Sausage-making traditions and cultural days

The local sausage-making tradition dates back to settlers from Pitvaroš who arrived in Sládkovičovo in 1947. The town’s food culture is thus linked to a specific history of migration. The International Sausage Festival is also part of this theme; it has already been held for the tenth time. If events are an important reason for your trip, check future dates in advance.

The Sládkovičovské Cultural Days are a tradition that brings generations together. The 26th edition took place in June 2025. For future editions, check the event dates rather than assuming the current programme will match that of a previous edition.

Vincov les thermal baths

Vincov les thermal baths include a swimming pool, two relaxation pools, a recreation pool and a children’s pool. The children’s pool is out of service. Since the availability of individual pools may change, check the information shortly before your visit. This will help you plan with the understanding that the listed pools are not all in the same operational status.
