Water and activities

Another water-based attraction in Senec is the aquapark. Its Play Pool, Bubble Pool, Swimming Pool, Sunshine Pool and Relax Pool are open year-round. The aquapark also includes the covered Hrošík-Paula play area, which is likewise open year-round. A stay at the lakes and the aquapark facilities offer different options. As operating arrangements may change, it is advisable to check the latest information before your visit.

Between the lake and the city

In summer, the Senec Express tourist train connects Slnečné jazerá with the city centre. Its 7.3-kilometre route runs around the lakes and starts and ends at Senec’s main square. If you want to take the train, check the seasonal timetable in advance. For guidance on getting around, there is also a Park & Ride car park: it can be used by travellers, city visitors and visitors to Slnečné jazerá. It is located near the railway station, regional bus stops, a Bike & Ride station and a stop for the free city bus. Availability and arrangements may change; check the latest information in advance.

If you are looking for excursions or attractions in the area, the Senec Tourist Information Centre offers recommendations. You can also get information there about activities and events. Visitor service information may change.

Architectural history in the cityscape

Senec’s architectural history is reflected in buildings from different eras. Turecký dom is a Renaissance manor house dating from the mid-16th century. The synagogue acquired its present form through a renovation in 1904. Its design is marked by Art Nouveau and Oriental elements; it is also a prominent building in the city centre. The contrast between the periods in which they were built gives a tangible impression of the city’s different historical layers.

Monuments and church grounds also add distinctive features. The Marian or Plague Column stands in front of Esterházy Castle and was erected in 1747 in memory of the victims of a plague epidemic. The Chapel of the Holy Trinity stands on the main road from the centre to the lakes. It was built in 1860 in the Neoclassical style. The grounds of the Church of St. Nicholas include Stations of the Cross, a Calvary group dating from 1934 and a Lourdes grotto.

Nature around Senec

Martinský les offers a natural highlight alongside the area’s water and city history. It contains oak stands that survive in only a few places in Europe and is part of the Natura 2000 network. If you are interested in these rare surviving woodland areas and would like to visit Martinský les, ask locally about access options.
