A large river bend on the Malý Dunaj shapes the character of Zálesie: the river surrounds the village from the northwest to the northeast. At Korzo Zálesie, the focus is on walks in nature and observing fauna and flora. Near Zálesie, the Malý Dunaj is considered a river that has come back to life, with abundant birdlife and fish. If you are planning a stay, you can experience the water on foot, from the riverbank or on a trip along the river.

Rafting and water activities

Lodenica Zálesie organises rafting trips for schools, companies and the general public. It also offers canoes, boats and catamarans. Check the current trip schedule and the availability of watercraft before travelling. The Malý okruh Zálesie is a two-hour rafting trip that starts and ends in Zálesie. Its stated duration gives you a concrete reference point when planning the timing of water activities and other visits around the village.

Lodenica Zálesie also offers a rafting trip to the Gešajovské mlyny. Check the availability of this route before your visit. For a long time, the narrow riverbank area at Korzo Zálesie was used by rafting participants to get on and off the boats.

Riverbank, views and culture

The Maják stands on the banks of the Malý Dunaj near Záleská lodenica. It serves as an observation tower and as a point on a walking route and a cycling route. From the top, the unobstructed view stretches three kilometres across the river horizon. Korzo Zálesie complements the waterside views with space for walks and nature watching. It also features a natural amphitheatre for smaller cultural activities overlooking the river.

The Gešajovské mlyny are replicas of historic water mills displayed beside Maják and Korzo on the Malý Dunaj near Zálesie. The project to place the mill replicas in the river was completed on 17 November 2012. An informative educational route about water wheels has been accessible there since the end of 2012. Alongside their importance for walks and rafting, the mill replicas and information route give the riverbank a cultural focus.

The village’s history also offers a point of interest: Zálesie was initially named Gešajov in honour of a benefactor. The Chapel of the Holy Trinity was built in 1932. Its interior has a single nave and ends in a presbytery with a segmental apse. A statue of Saint Joseph stands in a niche above the main entrance.
