Pećinci brings culture in town together with nature in the surrounding area: the Serbian Bread Museum – Jeremija and the Cultural Centre’s programme offer different cultural highlights; nearby Obedska bara adds a nature-focused option. Pećinci is the administrative centre of the municipality and borders the E70 motorway.

Culture in town: museum and annual programme

The Serbian Bread Museum – Jeremija began operating in 1995. Visitors can touch some of the objects and see demonstrations of how selected items work. The museum therefore focuses on both tangible objects and their function. If you are interested in material culture and practical demonstrations, this combination is a distinctive part of the museum’s theme.

The Pećinci Cultural Centre organises a year-round programme of traditional events, festivals, competitions and cultural programmes for all age groups. Two recurring dates give the calendar a clear structure: the Svetosavska svečanost takes place every January, while the municipal recitation showcase “Pesniče naroda mog” returns in March. This makes it possible to distinguish between the year-round programme and events tied to specific months.

For children, Mini-tini fest has offered opportunities for first musical and theatrical experiences for two decades. The 20th edition is scheduled for 30 October 2026 at 6 p.m. at the Pećinci Cultural Centre. If this event is the reason for your trip, check before travelling whether it is going ahead as planned.

The 12th Pećinačko kulturno leto was scheduled for 25 July 2026, from 3 p.m. to 10 p.m., in the pedestrian zone in the centre of Pećinci. The announced programme included the Pećinačka Kotlićijada, a competition to prepare traditional Srem paprikaš. The “Kolači naših baka” presentation was also announced; it was intended to help preserve traditional recipes and the heritage of home baking. The two programme items had different themes: the Kotlićijada focused on preparing a dish, while the presentation focused on preserving recipes and baking traditions.

Nature in the surrounding area

The horseshoe-shaped Obedska bara lies between Kupinovo and the neighbouring village of Obrež, in the surrounding area of Pećinci. It is the former riverbed of the Sava. The nature reserve has marked trails named “Putevi đurđevka”, “Staza potkovice” and “Kružna edukativna staza”. The area also offers boat and catamaran trips.

The nature activities differ mainly in the type of experience: the named trails can be explored on foot, while boat and catamaran trips offer an option on the water. You can choose what to focus on depending on whether you would rather explore the trails or take a trip on the water. The trail names and the different types of trips provide concrete points of reference for making this choice.

Architectural history and other activities

In Ogar, Aksentijev Kućerak was built in the second half of the 18th century and is protected as a cultural monument of exceptional importance. From an architectural-history perspective, the building offers a different focus from the Bread Museum in Pećinci: the museum centres on objects and their function, while Ogar is about a specific building, its period of construction and its protected status.

In Pećinci, the “Pećinci” bathing facilities offer facilities for recreational sports. This means that, alongside the museum and cultural programme, leisure activities are another option. When planning your trip, you can decide what to prioritise: culture in town, the nature reserve in the surrounding area or recreational sports.
