Wójtowice combines distinctive church architecture with local religious history and two cycling routes that make the village part of longer routes. To explore the area, you can choose between sacred architecture and local history, or compare the two cycling routes. They differ in the historical associations of the church and chapel, as well as in route sequence, markings, and total length.

Church and Chapel History

The Church of St. Mary Magdalene is one of the few sacred buildings in Silesia designed by C. F. Schinkel. This links Wójtowice to a clearly defined architectural history topic. The church and its furnishings also have artistic value. Two aspects therefore come together: the attribution of the design to Schinkel and the artistic significance of the building, including its furnishings. If you are interested in sacred architecture, the church offers a specific point of interest.

The Chapel of Our Lady of Perpetual Help is also known as the Schneider Chapel or Schneider Kirchlein. It was a local spiritual center for the residents of the upper part of Wójtowice. The different names refer to the same chapel; its former role anchors it in the history of the residents of this part of the village. In 1877, a Stations of the Cross was created at the chapel, leading uphill from the village and modeled on local Calvaries. The chapel’s former spiritual function and a specific historic route are therefore among the defining aspects of its history.

A Calvary founded by F. Prause is also one of the sights in Wójtowice. The church and chapel appeal to different cultural and historical interests: the church is notable for Schinkel’s design and its artistic furnishings, while the chapel is notable for its former spiritual role and the historic Stations of the Cross.

Comparing Two Cycling Routes

The blue-green Bystrzyca Kłodzka–Długopole-Zdrój–Bystrzyca Kłodzka cycling route is about 37 kilometers long. It passes through Stara Bystrzyca, Wójtowice, Młoty, Spalona, and Poręba before returning to Bystrzyca Kłodzka. The blue Bystrzyca Kłodzka–Rudawa route is about 20 kilometers long and runs through Stara Bystrzyca, Wójtowice, Młoty, and Spalona to Rudawa. Both routes pass through Wójtowice and share several of the listed waypoints, but differ in their total length and destination. The sequence of places is the same as far as Spalona; after that, the longer loop goes through Poręba and returns to Bystrzyca Kłodzka, while the blue route continues to Rudawa.

To choose between them, consider both the total distance and the route: the longer route returns to Bystrzyca Kłodzka, while the shorter one leads to Rudawa. The kilometer figures are approximate total distances, not the length of the stretch in Wójtowice. Check current route conditions before setting out.
