The Házaspárok útja turns a circular route in Óbudavár into a walk with a clear theme: over 1.5 kilometres, it explores important events, responsibilities, challenges and stages of married life. In addition, the Óbudavár Falukör, forest paths and historical sites offer other starting points for planning your stay. You can choose whether to focus on a themed path, a walk through the village, exercise in the forest, or local architecture and everyday history.

Circular routes with different focuses

The Házaspárok útja starts at a chapel and returns there as a circular route. Its 15 stations address both important events and the responsibilities and challenges of married life. The path leads through forest and across meadows. Those interested in its themes will find not just a route, but a subject that encompasses different stages of life.

The Óbudavár Falukör is a 3.3-kilometre walking route that takes less than an hour to complete on foot. It differs from the Házaspárok útja both in its greater length and in its focus as a village walk. The stated distance and walking time help you estimate how long this route will take; the Marriage Path, by contrast, offers a shorter circuit with 15 stations about marriage.

The forest paths also have different themes. A forest nature trail starts at Szent Márton pihenőpark. The Línia Path also serves as a forest exercise trail: signs at its stations indicate the exercises to do. Alongside the Marriage Path and village walk, these provide two further options for nature and exercise, without implying that the paths form one combined route.

Szent Márton pihenőpark and village history

The carved wooden gate at the entrance to Szent Márton pihenőpark is clearly visible from the main road and serves as a distinctive landmark. The Óbudavári mosóház is also part of the local heritage: its vaulted cellar marks the source of a spring and recalls a time when the village women washed their clothes there. The site thus combines a distinctive architectural feature with a former part of everyday village life.

Szent Márton pihenőpark is considered a visitor destination; check the latest access information before visiting. In 2007, alongside the renovation of the washhouse, an event house for up to 50 people was established there. If you are planning an event, confirm availability before booking. This helps distinguish the washhouse’s historical use from the event house’s practical purpose.

Church and Schönstatt Chapel

The Szent Márton püspök templom was built in 1836, with financial support from József Kopácsy. The church is a protected historic monument. Its construction date, financial support and protected status offer three distinct points of reference for its local history: its origins, its funding and its present-day designation as a protected building.

Another historical site is the Óbudavári Schönstatt-kápolna. It was consecrated on 2 April 2005 and is an exact replica of the Original Shrine in Schönstatt, Germany. Óbudavár is also home to the centre of the Hungarian Schönstatt Movement. The chapel and the parish church therefore offer two distinct points of interest if you are interested in the religious and architectural history of the village.

Getting there and planning your stay

Óbudavár is not easy to reach by public transport. Take this general assessment into account when choosing where to stay, and check the specific connections for your travel dates in advance. For further planning, the attractions described can be distinguished by theme and time required: the Falukör has a stated walking time of less than an hour, while the Házaspárok útja is a shorter route with 15 themed stations. The other local sites complement these walks with forest paths, village history and architecture.
