In Radebeul, the RebkulTour leads through hidden vineyards and past historic sites, with scenic views along the way. Old vineyard walls and terraces offer a glimpse into wine-growing in the past. You can explore the history of the wine-growing landscape on a walk as well as through the city’s cultural offerings.

Winegrowing on the trail, at the museum and at tastings

If you would like to learn more about the people and history behind winegrowing, the Hoflößnitz is home to the Saxon Wine Museum. It explores the history of Saxon winegrowing and the work of Radebeul’s vintners. Wine from Hoflößnitz’s organic production is served on the vineyard terrace. The vinotheque complements the offering with Hoflößnitz wines, sparkling wines and spirits, as well as wines from around 30 other Saxon vintners; tastings are also available. The selection and operating arrangements may change, so check specific offerings before your visit.

The Weinstraße is home to wineries, wine farms and wine taverns. Their offerings include themed tastings and vineyard tours. As individual businesses and offerings may change, it is worth checking what is currently available in advance.

Schloss Wackerbarth offers daily tours of its modern wine and sparkling wine estate; tour times may change. The castle’s Radebeul vineyards include the premium steep slopes of Goldener Wagen, Wackerbarthberg and Paradies. The garden is another special feature: its French design preserves the Baroque symmetry.

Literature and the stage

Karl May lived and worked in Radebeul; his Winnetou books were written here. The Karl May Museum includes Villa Shatterhand and features a permanent exhibition devoted to Karl May’s life and work. The site thus connects a specific literary biography with a dedicated museum.

The Studio Stage at Theater Radebeul offers a different cultural perspective. Its program includes small-scale productions, children’s theater and experimental forms. A tram and bus stop is located right outside the theater. Landesbühnen Sachsen/Weintraube S-Bahn station is about 500 meters away. Check current connections for your visit.

By the Lößnitzgrund Railway and by bike

The Lößnitzgrund Railway runs along a 16.6-kilometer route from Radebeul via Moritzburg to Radeburg. It serves eleven stations and crosses 19 bridges. If you would like to combine a train ride with a cycling tour in the Elbland, you can take your bicycle in the bike carriage. Check the current conditions for taking bicycles on board before you travel.

The attractions have different focuses: the RebkulTour takes you on foot through vineyards and past historic sites, museums and theaters explore history and culture, while the Lößnitzgrund Railway offers a way to combine your journey with cycling. This lets you plan your time in Radebeul around the themes that interest you most.
