Cycling with a clear choice of direction

Immendingen offers cyclists several distinct options. From here, you can ride along the Danube Cycle Path towards Sigmaringen or Donaueschingen. Mountain bike trails have been available in the Talmannsberg area of the municipality of Immendingen since September 2025. They complement, among other things, the Danube Cycle Path and the e-bike tours offered by Donaubergland Tourismus und Marketing GmbH. When planning, it is helpful to distinguish between the options: the Danube Cycle Path offers two named directions, while the trails provide a separate mountain biking option. Which route you choose depends on the type of cycling tour you want. Before setting off, check the current conditions for your chosen route or trails.

Donauuferpark and Fasnet

Donauuferpark I features a footbridge over the Danube and a water playground. There are also tiered seating areas overlooking the Danube and a promenade with a circular path. This provides a range of ways to spend time by the river: you can take in the footbridge and seating areas or plan a walk along the circular path. The water playground adds another feature to the park without requiring you to follow a particular itinerary.

Immendingen Fasnet also offers a specific reason to plan a trip. It includes a large parade on Fasnet Sunntig. If you want to experience the parade, plan your visit around this Fasnet day and check the date of the event in advance.

The wider landscape: Tuttlingen

The wider Tuttlingen destination encompasses a district of 734.4 square kilometres, including the southwestern foothills of the Swabian Alb, parts of the Baar and the valley of the Young Danube. In the northern part are juniper heaths and the 10-Tausender region, with ten mountains over 1,000 metres high. Other landscape highlights of the district include the Danube Gorge and the Höwenegg volcanic crater. White limestone cliffs rise above the Danube Valley. These landscape features offer contrasting scenery, with juniper heaths and high mountains alongside valleys and rock formations.

Hiking and nature in the Tuttlingen destination

The Danube Sinkhole in the wider Tuttlingen destination extends between Immendingen, Möhringen, Tuttlingen and Fridingen. Its appearance can vary from day to day: at times, the Danube carries a lot of water there; in some places, it dries up completely; and at other times, it carries only a little water. If you want to experience the Danube Sinkhole, be prepared for changing water levels.

The “Donauversinkung” premium hiking trail runs between Tuttlingen-Möhringen and Immendingen. Check trail conditions before your hike. Another named trail section in Tuttlingen district is the final section of the Albsteig: it leads over the Rußberg, past Bettelmannskeller and the Nonnehöhle near Wurmlingen, directly to Tuttlingen. The two routes offer different hiking perspectives and should not be treated as a single route.

At Rabenfels in the Bäratal, the climbing areas in Tuttlingen district between the “Mister Wendl” and “Gebrüderweg” routes are open from 1 August to 31 December. As access is limited to a specific season, check the current regulations before climbing. Another option for walks and hikes is the two-kilometre “Rock- & Roll-Tour” in Tuttlingen-Nendingen. It is largely barrier-free and fully wheelchair accessible; check local conditions in advance.

Culture in the wider destination

The Neuhausen ob Eck Open-Air Museum showcases 25 historic buildings. They were dismantled at their original locations, moved to the museum and restored to their original condition. The focus is therefore on historic buildings and their restoration. In Fridingen, the upper floors of the KĂĽnstlerhaus Scharf Eck house a museum dedicated to Hans Bucher, a painter of the Danube Valley. His life and work are presented across three floors. The Museum Oberes Donautal in Ifflinger Castle focuses on different aspects of cultural history: alongside changing special exhibitions, it has permanent exhibitions on the history of the town and its lordship, archaeology, Fasnet and more recent history.

One annual event in the wider Tuttlingen destination is Honberg-Sommer. The festival takes place in the ruins of Honberg Castle and attracts tens of thousands of visitors each year. Unlike the Immendingen Fasnet parade, it is a separate festival offering in the Tuttlingen destination.
