Pfullendorf is located in the Linzgau region between the Danube Valley and Lake Constance. Together with Illmensee, Ostrach, Wald and Wilhelmsdorf, the town is part of the Northern Lake Constance holiday region. The region is characterized by extensive wetlands, orchards and lakes, as well as views towards the Alps and Lake Constance. This places Pfullendorf in the context of both its history and the landscape of the holiday region.

Old Town, History and Bindhaus

A walking tour leads through the lovingly renovated historic old town. Information panels in the old town indicate your current location, provide details about local attractions and show the route of the tour. This makes it easy to find your way while taking a walk through the old town.

Pfullendorf was granted town privileges in 1220 and was a Free Imperial City from 1282 to 1803. One striking testament to the town’s history is the Bindhaus: built in 1499, it belonged to Pfullendorf Hospital and served as a granary. Today, the Bindhaus focuses on local customs, local history and traditional crafts.

The Bindhaus Museum features an old shop, a traditional classroom, historical weights and measures, and objects from the field of pharmacy. The displays may change. The various exhibits offer a tangible insight into everyday life and crafts of the past, while the building itself reflects the Bindhaus’s long history.

Trails and Connections

Marked cycling, hiking and walking trails offer different ways to explore the landscape around Pfullendorf; these include sections of the Way of St. James. The signposted walking routes in Pfullendorf are approximately 3 to 5 kilometres long. Choosing a route lets you distinguish between a walk, a hiking trail and a cycle route without treating these different types of trail as the same.

The starting points for local walks are almost directly accessible by BĂĽrgerbus. You can reach starting points in Aach-Linz on RegioBus 500. Check current connections before travelling, as routes and timetables may change.

The Räuberbahn connects Pfullendorf with Aulendorf, with stops in Burgweiler, Ostrach, Hoßkirch and Altshausen. As operating times and timetables may change, it is advisable to check the current connection before travelling. The eastern route of the German Half-Timbered House Road also passes through Pfullendorf and Ostrach on its way to Lake Constance; it comprises 13 day trips from the Neckar to the Black Forest.

Seepark Linzgau

Seepark Linzgau is located at the western entrance to the town. This family-friendly park has walking paths, playgrounds and a water play area for children. The swimming lake also offers beach volleyball, a sunbathing lawn and a children’s bathing area. Seasonal visitor facilities may change; check the current information before your visit.

Wakeboarding is available at the wake park, diving at the diving centre, and there is also adventure golf. If you plan to use any of these facilities, check their current availability before your trip. This lets you choose the Seepark activities that are most interesting for your stay and plan around the relevant conditions.
