Seelfingen is picturesquely situated on the Mahlspürer Aach and is home to two historic buildings: St. Agatha Chapel and the half-timbered Haus Kiefer. Together with Mahlspüren im Tal, Seelfingen forms a single political entity. In both districts, cycling and hiking trail networks are ideal for an active holiday; a family holiday on a farm is also a good fit for this shared destination. This lets you choose whether to focus on cultural history or outdoor activities.
Chapel and half-timbered house in Seelfingen
St. Agatha Chapel in Seelfingen, dedicated to Saint Agatha, was first mentioned in 1324. Formerly a parish church, it underwent major renovations around 1730 or may have been completely rebuilt. Its wooden coffered ceiling dates from the 18th century; most of its furnishings are from the middle of that century.
The half-timbered Haus Kiefer dates from 1730 and is considered one of the most beautiful half-timbered houses in the former district. The year 1730 has a different significance for the two buildings: for Haus Kiefer, it marks the year it was built; for the chapel, it marks the time of its major renovation or possible reconstruction. This makes it possible to compare a half-timbered house and a former parish church in terms of their history, too.
