Traditional half-timbered houses, farms and distinctive farmsteads shape Criquetot-sur-Longueville’s well-preserved rural heritage. The commune is in the Pays de Caux, whose green landscapes, authentic rural heritage and peaceful way of life shape the character of the wider area. This places the village in the context of both its own heritage and the landscape of the Pays de Caux. The Église Saint-Julien adds a perspective on the village’s history and architecture.

The architectural history of the Église Saint-Julien
The nave of the Église Saint-Julien dates from the original church, built in the 12th century, and is made of tuff stone; the chancel was rebuilt around 1700. The same building therefore reveals two distinct construction phases: the surviving nave of the early church and the chancel, renewed later. The dates mark a long interval between the oldest surviving part and the rebuilt chancel. For architecture enthusiasts, this contrast makes the building’s history tangible, bringing together a specific building material and a surviving feature with a later structural change. The church’s furnishings include a polychrome wooden crucifix from the 17th century, probably donated to the parish by a local brotherhood. Check on site whether the crucifix is currently on display. A stone-carved Vierge à l'Enfant from the 15th century is no longer in the church; it was reported stolen in April 1979.
A memorial in the churchyard
In the northern part of the churchyard in Criquetot-sur-Longueville are the graves of seven airmen, including four members of the Royal Air Force and three members of the Royal Canadian Air Force. The churchyard adds a specific remembrance of members of two air forces to the village’s history.
