Saint-Just combines a rich local history with festivals and outdoor activities. Historical traces from different periods can be found at the parish church, on Rue Frédéric Mistral and at the Croix de Saint-Pierre d’Obilion. Local activities range from running and Nordic walking outings to cycling trips and hikes to Étang de l’Or. You can therefore plan your stay around culture or active time in the countryside.

Festivals with different themes

The 2026 Fête votive in Saint-Just lasted eight days. The programme included Abrivados, Bandidos, Course au plan, Course de nuit, the Bénédiction des taureaux, a Roussataïo, and other folkloric and festive events. The duration and activities refer to this edition; future programmes may differ. If you are planning your trip around a future edition, check the specific dates and current programme.

The FĂŞte de la pomme includes visits to the cooperative and apple orchards. This gives it a different focus from the FĂŞte votive, with its folkloric and festive events: here, the emphasis is on learning about the cooperative and fruit growing. The programme may vary; check details of the visits before your trip.

Church, art and historical traces

A place of worship was probably built on the current site of the parish church in the late 14th or early 15th century. Extensive construction work in the mid-19th century changed the church’s architecture and size. Its early origins remain uncertain; the later work marks a further phase in the building’s history, several centuries on.

A flying buttress from the earlier building phase survives on the right-hand side of the parish church. Rue Frédéric Mistral is also home to an old wall bearing traces of two gates from the Romanesque period and the Renaissance. An architectural feature of the church and evidence of former gates on a street thus stand side by side.

The painting “Saint Just” was created in Montpellier in 1690 by Antoine Ranc. The painting “Saint Pasteur” is listed as a protected cultural object. These details offer art enthusiasts different points of interest: the creation of one work, with its artist, year and place, and the listing of the other as a cultural object.

The Croix de Saint-Pierre d’Obilion is the only surviving trace of the village of the same name, which has since disappeared. Beneath the Marian chapel in the parish church is a crypt where two bodies are buried. These details complement the visible architectural traces with evidence of a vanished settlement and a burial place beneath the church.

Explore on foot or by bike

Saint-Just Do It organises running and Nordic walking outings on the roads and paths of the Petite Camargue and in the surrounding garrigue hills. Saint-Just Aventure offers cycling trips at weekends and occasionally during the week for mountain bike and road cycling enthusiasts. The options vary by activity and landscape: explore the paths of the Petite Camargue or the garrigue hills on foot, or join a mountain bike or road cycling trip. Dates and participation requirements may change; check the current options in advance.

Saint-Just is also a starting point for hikes to Étang de l’Or. This adds a specific hiking destination to the running and cycling trips. Which kind of activity suits your stay depends on whether you prefer an organised outing or a hike to this destination; individual routes may vary.
