Around 18 kilometres on the Natur-turen, nearly six kilometres on Planetstien, along with coastal meadows, a beach and local history: Hvidovre Municipality offers a range of reasons to visit. The highlights are easy to distinguish: longer routes, nature and water, activities for children, and culture and architectural history.

Routes and discoveries

Natur-turen starts at Åmarken Station in the south and ends at Hvidovre Station in the north. It is about 18 kilometres long and runs mostly along small cycle paths and gravel paths, with no car traffic. If you would like to include a longer route in your travel plans, its south-to-north course and approximate length provide a clear guide.

Planetstien offers a different focus: this small-scale astronomical family attraction depicts the solar system over nearly six kilometres, from the Sun on Bjerget to Pluto in Mågeparken. In terms of length, the route is considerably shorter than Natur-turen’s approximately 18 kilometres; here, the focus is on the sequence of the solar system, while Natur-turen follows a route between two stations.

Nature, water and outdoor activities

At Kystagerparken, numerous wild plants, seeds and flowers provide the foundation for a rich variety of wildlife; the area is protected. Strandengen adds a coastal meadow landscape to the nature theme, with grazing sheep and calves.

Lodsparken has a sandy beach and a bathing jetty. The bathing water was rated “excellent” based on the previous year’s monitoring samples. Conditions may change after heavy rain; check the water conditions before swimming.

Bjerget combines two different leisure activities: it is home to the Sun on Planetstien and is a suitable place for sledging and kite flying. Rebæk Søpark has a nature playground for children—a dedicated play spot alongside the landscape and nature destinations.

Hands-on activities and visitor information

The Naturrum at Quark Nature Center features a permanent exhibition as well as suggested routes with local sights. There are also toilets and a covered outdoor area for eating. Check seasonal access information before your visit.

There are also various activities for children: they can visit Bakketop Trine and play in Trines Have, look for small animals and try nature activities. Quark Nature Center also holds a summer market every year for Hvidovre residents and other interested visitors. If you plan to attend the market, check the current date in advance.

Cirkusmuseet offers Cirkusleg every Sunday. With expert guidance from a professional circus artist, the whole family can try activities such as juggling, tightrope walking and trapeze. Check the current programme before your visit.

Suburban history and architecture

At Historieporten in Avedørelejren, visitors can see the old guardhouse and learn about a chapter of forgotten suburban history. Check opening hours before your visit.

The restored “Officerspavillonen” pavilion in Avedørelejren features preserved and cleaned ceiling paintings depicting scenes from Greek mythology. The hangars at Avedøre Flyveplads are considered Denmark’s oldest aircraft hangars and are distinctive, protected wooden buildings dating from 1917. Together, they offer a choice of cultural history themes: local suburban history, mythological motifs and historic aircraft hangars.
