Prostřední Bečva offers a variety of reasons to visit: the Bečva Cycle Path runs through the village, following the course of the Rožnovská Bečva; there are also hiking and educational trails, a natural swimming pool and architecture. The municipality lies entirely within the Beskydy Protected Landscape Area (CHKO Beskydy). The routes differ in their starting points, destinations, lengths and seasons – a useful comparison before adding individual activities to your travel plans.

Cycling and routes with different destinations

The Radhošťská ovčí dálnice educational trail runs from the Pustevny saddle to the Chapel of Saints Cyril and Methodius on Radhošť. It is about 4 km long and has nine stops. In winter, it can be completed on skis; in summer, on a mountain bike. This trail is therefore described in terms of both its route and two seasonal ways to use it – clear guidance when choosing an activity based on the time of year.

Another option is an 8.6 km hike from Prostřední Bečva to Pustevny. It can start at the “U požárního domu” bus stop. Comparing the directions helps with planning: the educational trail leads from Pustevny to Radhošť, while the suggested hike goes from Prostřední Bečva to Pustevny. The lengths refer to different route descriptions and should not be added together as the total length of a single route.

Educational trails, orientation and swimming

Life-size wooden animal sculptures line the Pustevenská ZOO educational trail. At each stop, information boards provide details about the animals. Here, animal displays and related information are the main focus. This differs from the route descriptions, where the course, length or seasonal use plays a greater role.

Brána Pusteven has a bus stop, public toilets and a tourist information centre next to the car park. For a different kind of activity, Prostřední Bečva’s natural swimming pool has its own features: a special pool planted with aquatic plants is used to purify the water, so chemical treatment is not required. The facility also has a shallow paddling pool for children and non-swimmers, as well as a swimming area with a maximum depth of 2.5 m.

Architecture and landscape features

The Church of St. Zdislava was built in 2001 to a design by architect Jan Kovář from Opava. Relics of St. Zdislava are displayed in the church. Architecture enthusiasts will also find a connection to Prostřední Bečva in the Pustevny complex: the part of the complex within the municipality’s cadastral area includes wooden mountain lodges dating from 1891 to 1900, designed by architect Dušan Jurkovič. These include Maměnka and Libušín.

Another named landscape feature is Čertův stůl. This distinctive rock formation is considered a landmark of the Čertův mlýn educational trail and lies on the ridge of Čertův mlýn. Together with the municipality’s location in the Beskydy Protected Landscape Area, it provides a specific point of reference for the landscape, without combining the different route destinations into a single tour.

When searching for hotels, it makes sense to start with the kind of trip you have in mind: would you mainly like to cycle, plan a particular hike, go swimming or discover architecture? This choice can help you tailor your search to the kind of trip you are actually planning.
