The Poskla Natural Monument, a firefighting museum with a historic piece of equipment that is still operational, and routes through the surrounding area reveal different sides of Hutisko Solanec. You can plan your stay around the landscape, local history and activities, and get to know more than just one particular aspect of the area.

Landscape and orientation

Hutisko Solanec lies in the foothills of the Beskids. The municipality stretches from the valley of the Solanecký potok at 450 m to the summit of Tanečnice at 911 m. The Poskla Natural Monument offers a more specific way to understand the landscape: it consists of three separate, nearby sections, Poskla I to III, in the Vigantická pahorkatina within the Rožnovská brázda. They lie at an elevation of 495 to 565 m, about 1 km north of the town center. The elevations given for Poskla and for the entire municipality describe different scales—a specific natural area and the municipality's broader range.

Road II/481 also helps with geographic orientation. It passes through the municipality and leads from Prostřední Bečva via Soláň to Velké Karlovice. This named road route through Hutisko Solanec is another local point of reference.

Local history and culture

The “Hasičské muzeum” displays historic firefighting items from local fire brigades and those in the surrounding area. These include a fire engine from the workshop of the Pařík brothers. It has been owned by the local fire brigade since 1933 and is still operational. This item brings together the history of the workshop, its ownership history and its stated continued operability.

The brick church in Hutisko Solanec was built in 1748 after the previous wooden church burned down. The “Památník Charlotty Garrigue Masarykové” monument offers a different focus: it consists of a sandstone block with a plaque and a bust of Charlotta Masaryková on the front. The town thus brings architectural history together with a monument whose material features are clearly identified.

Dožínky, a harvest festival traditionally celebrated in Hutisko Solanec, is part of local tradition. If you want to travel specifically for the festival, check the latest dates in advance. Along with the firefighting museum, church and monument, the festival tradition offers a cultural perspective on the town that differs from its nature and sports offerings.

Cycling, winter sports and outdoor swimming pool

One specific cycling tour is “Na umělci políbenou Soláň.” It passes through Hutisko-Solanec from Vigantice to the ridge of Soláň. The cycling routes in the surrounding area are a separate offering: there are 300 km of them, mostly along field and forest tracks. The tour describes a particular route, while the 300 km refer to the wider choice in the surrounding area. Check the tour's current route before planning, as route details may change.

Winter sports are another option: Hutisko-Solanec has four locations with ski lifts and many cross-country ski trails. Facilities and trail availability may change from season to season. If winter sports are important to your trip, check in advance which options are currently available.

Another leisure option is the “Koupaliště Hutisko-Solanec” outdoor swimming pool. It has a newly renovated 50-meter pool and a smaller children's pool. The complex also includes a campsite for tents and caravans, a playground, sand tennis courts and a children's corner. As the facilities may change, we recommend checking the latest information about the complex before your visit. This makes it possible to weigh the natural monument, culture and seasonal activities that suit you according to your travel interests.
