Újezdec combines winegrowing, trails through the hilly countryside and local culture. When planning a trip, these themes can be considered separately: the routes have different profiles, while tastings and traditional customs provide distinct cultural occasions.

Wine Landscape and History

Újezdec lies in the hilly Kyjovská pahorkatina between the Chřiby Massif and the Morava floodplain. Grapevines are grown on the southern slopes; the designated vineyard sites belong to the Bzenec wine-growing region. At the same time, the village has been known for its vineyards and wine since the 16th century. Its affiliation with Bzenec identifies the wine region, while Kyjovská pahorkatina describes the hilly landscape. For travellers, the southern slopes represent winegrowing; the cycling route reveals other facets of Újezdec’s local landscape, with its challenging terrain, plateau and expansive views.

Hiking Trails and Regional Routes

A marked hiking trail maintained by the Czech Tourist Club leads from Ořechov through a gorge and past Újezdec’s cultural centre into the village. From there, it follows the main road towards Hostějov, then continues via Osvětimany into the Chřiby and on to the Holý kopec Nature Reserve. Its course can therefore be divided into the stretch through the village and the continuation via named points to a specific protected area.

The Újezdecká zmola is a naturally preserved gorge below the forest on Stráňách. Its challenging terrain gives young people room for exploratory and adventurous outings. The Újezdecká zmola is a local landscape area; Holý kopec is a nature reserve and a destination on the marked hiking trail.

The local section of the Bzenecká cycling route features challenging terrain and a plateau with expansive views. The marked hiking trail passes through named places to the Holý kopec Nature Reserve; the local section of the Bzenecká cycling route is characterised by challenging terrain, a plateau and expansive views. A wine route reaches its highest point in Újezdec and then continues over paved terrain to Vážany.

Wine Tastings and Local Traditions

The Újezdecký košt slivovice is a recurring local tasting event. The 13th edition took place in 2019, and the 18th in 2026. The Petropavlovské hodky are held every year at the end of June and are considered Újezdec’s most important cultural event. They include a traditional fair. Together, a recurring tasting and a cultural event held at the end of June that includes a fair represent different aspects of local customs.

The Chapel of St Peter and Paul was built in 1930. The local traditional costume belongs to the Osvětimany-Domanín type and resembles the costumes from Uherské Hradiště. The chapel and traditional costume complement the events with two different cultural themes: architectural history and regional dress.
