Přílepy lies at the wooded foot of the Hostýnské vrchy. The town offers several different ways to enjoy a stay: walks in the castle park, a historic landmark ensemble with a Neo-Gothic architectural history, and described hiking and cycling routes. This lets you decide in advance whether you would prefer to focus on the park and culture or on a specific route.
Castle Park and Historic Landmark Ensemble
The castle park is open year-round for walks and relaxation; check local access rules before your visit. It features paths and large lawns. Coniferous and deciduous trees stand individually or in groups. The combination of paths, open lawns and trees arranged in different ways gives the park several distinct features: as you walk, you can take in both open spaces and trees planted individually or in groups.
The park is part of the historic landmark ensemble, which consists of the castle, the adjoining park and the more distant Chapel of Panny Marie Svatohostýnské. The ensemble includes architecturally valuable buildings dating from the mid-19th century in the Neo-Gothic style. The castle’s history goes back to an older fortress: the old fortress of Přílepy dated from 1628. It was demolished in 1852 and a castle was built in its place. The municipality and local residents maintain the chapel. If you plan to visit the interior, check the current arrangements locally in advance.
Hiking Trails with Different Highlights
The marked Přílepy–Hrad–Žopy route starts at the lower bus stop and climbs via the village square to a forest chapel. It continues through the forest via Křížnice and Ploština to the Hrad trail junction. Check the current trail markings before setting out.
Another hiking route is Přílepy–Křídlo–Hlinsko pod Hostýnem (Rusava); it follows the blue-marked hiking trail throughout. Křídlo, a castle ruin in a beech forest, lies along this route. At the summit of Hrad, which is on the route, there are large stones and a campsite at an elevation of 560 metres above sea level. Check its condition on site. The route descriptions have different highlights: one passes via Křížnice and Ploština to Hrad, while the other includes the Křídlo castle ruin.
Swimming and Cycling
A retention basin on the Mojena stream has served recreational purposes since 2001 and is frequently used for swimming during the summer months. Check swimming conditions before your trip. The options differ in terms of timing: walks in the castle park are available year-round, while the basin is frequently used for swimming in the summer months.
A described route can also be explored by bike: the Holešov–Rusava cycle route passes through Přílepy before returning to Holešov. Check the current signs before setting off. There is a bus connection from Rusava to Holešov; check the current timetable separately.
