Ocmanice lies above the right bank of the Oslava. This describes the village’s position in relation to the river; the Oslava Valley is the reference point for the route to the observation tower. The riverbank and the route therefore answer two different questions: where the village is located and how the tour to the tower runs. Another landmark is Haukwitzova Avenue, which is clearly visible from the tower. There is also a former mill site south of the village centre.
Observation Tower and Route Through the Oslava Valley
The observation tower above the Ocmanice water reservoir was built in 2004 and stands 15.25 metres tall. The route through the Oslava Valley leads to this destination and is suitable for both cyclists and walkers. The year it was built and its height give the tower a definite profile; it is also the endpoint of a route whose course can be followed using several local landmarks.
At the start of the route, convenient parking is available by the new community centre, close to the football pitch. After passing Dubovec Pond, the route crosses fields to Ocmanice. It follows a cycle path for about 1.5 kilometres to a road, where it turns right and climbs the hill to the Ocmanická observation tower. For cyclists, this section of cycle path is a landmark in its own right; the entire route is also suitable for walkers. The turn-off and the climb that follows are also part of the approach to the tower.
Haukwitzova Avenue as a Landscape Feature
Haukwitzova Avenue comprises 187 trees and is designated a landscape monument. It is clearly visible from the Ocmanice observation tower, creating a direct line of sight between the destination of the valley route and the avenue. The number of trees and its designation as a landscape monument give the avenue two distinct characteristics: a specific count and a recognised status. Those planning to visit the observation tower can also use this landscape feature as a landmark when looking out from the tower.
Former Mill Site South of the Centre
Nearby, Stružský–Padrtův mlýn is located on the Okarecký stream between Rozběhlo and Rathan ponds, two kilometres south of the centre of Ocmanice. Its position south of the centre, the stream, and the two ponds provide different reference points for locating it. The former mill building, Stružský, Padrtův mlýn, Na struhách, has been preserved along with its farm buildings and is being maintained. This adds another point of interest, located elsewhere, to the route and observation tower. At the mill, the stream, ponds, and its position south of the village centre are the main points of reference; at the tower, the route description helps with orientation.
