Discover Jinošov through a range of highlights: the approximately 12 km Jinošovské studánky route and its springs, the parish church of St Peter and Paul, and the historic grounds of Schönwald. The details below will help you explore the nature and culture on offer during your stay.
Walking Day and Springs
The Jinošovské studánky Walking Day takes place every year in May. The exact dates vary from year to year, so if you want to plan your trip around the event, check the date for the relevant year. The first official edition took place in 1978. The Jinošovské studánky route is about 12 km long and passes nine springs.
Local water features can also be distinguished through specific examples: the V Olších spring is the source of the Pucovský potok stream, while the V Hrdle spring feeds the nearby Bělizna pond. Together, these illustrate the source of a stream and a spring’s connection to a pond. For travellers interested in springs and their role in the landscape, this adds another perspective on the walking route.
Parish Church of St Peter and Paul
The parish church of St Peter and Paul was first mentioned in 1368. This date refers to its first mention, not the year it was built. The single-nave Romanesque church stands on a slight rise above Jinošov. The oldest surviving part comprises the presbytery with Gothic ribs and the sacristy. Thus, the description brings together Romanesque architecture and Gothic details in the oldest surviving parts of the building.
Another feature is the cemetery wall surrounding the church. Its inner face is divided by blind arcades with figurative paintings. The paintings are by F. Mikula from Jinín and date from 1841 to 1854. This adds a specific artistic detail to the building’s history.
Schönwald: Park History and Buildings
Schönwald Summer Château was built between 1827 and 1829 on the site of a former pheasantry. Before taking over the estate in 1795, Count Jindřich Vilém decided to turn the former pheasantry into an English-style park and his summer residence. The decision at the time and the later construction period are two distinct stages in this history.
In the western part of Schönwald Landscape Park, only a shell of the orangery building remains. Silvanův chrám stands at the highest point of Schönwald Park. The Temple of Apollo retains its picturesque decoration and excellent acoustics; music performances and festivities were held there in the first half of the 19th century.
Schönwald Summer Château is privately owned and not open to the public. As access may change, check before your trip.
Paths in Jinošovská obora
Another nature-focused option is Jinošovská obora, with walking paths among centuries-old oaks, larches and lime trees. The game reserve is open to the public; as access may change, it is advisable to check before your trip. The paths and tree species give this walk a different focus from the spring-themed Jinošovské studánky route.
