Chapel, Memorial Stone and Local History
In the center of Horní Heřmanice, a small chapel with a cross stands between two linden trees. A memorial stone bears a relief of a Greek cross and has an irregular triangular ground plan. At the memorial stone, the relief and ground plan describe different aspects: the cross motif on the surface and the shape as seen from above. A crucifix is listed as a cultural monument in Horní Heřmanice.
The first mention of Horní Heřmanice dates from 1447; at that time, the village appears under the historical name Superius Herzmanicze. From 1563, Heřmanice and Velké Meziříčí were under the same lordship. The two dates represent different aspects of local history: an early mention of the name and a later assignment to a lordship.
Landscape Character and Viewpoint
The area around Horní Heřmanice belongs to the Třebíčsko-Velkomeziříčsko landscape character area. The Třebíčsko landscape character zone is also designated within the municipality. These terms refer to different levels: a broader landscape character area and a landscape character zone designated within the municipality. This landscape zone includes a diverse landscape mosaic, syenite rocks and block-shaped outcrops. The mosaic sums up the variety; the rocks and block-shaped outcrops refer to specific features.
The southern part of the administrative area of Horní Heřmanice lies within Třebíčsko Nature Park. This geographical designation applies explicitly to the southern part of the administrative area. Landscape character describes the broader setting, while the nature park designation here applies to a specific area.
A “vyhlídka na obec” (viewpoint overlooking the village) is designated as a significant viewpoint with a view of Horní Heřmanice. The view is therefore directed at the settlement itself, complementing the landscape features with an explicitly village-focused aspect.
Cycling Trips and Directions
Beyond Horní Heřmanice, the cycling trip follows a blue-marked hiking trail leading into Balínské údolí. The reference to “beyond Horní Heřmanice” indicates where the transition takes place; Balínské údolí names the destination of the hiking trail that follows. This makes it possible to distinguish the point along the route from the direction of the trail.
A cycling trip to Velké Meziříčí that heads toward Horní Heřmanice is 54.6 km long. After turning off cycle route 5112, the route goes straight ahead at an intersection toward Bochovice and Horní Heřmanice. The distance describes the length of the trip, while the intersection instruction gives a specific direction to take along the route.
The route information can be distinguished by its planning purpose: for the trail beyond Horní Heřmanice, the transition point and destination are given; for the cycling trip to Velké Meziříčí, the distance and intersection instruction provide information about length and direction. Balínské údolí, the 54.6 kilometers and the turn-off thus serve different navigational purposes.
