Mirošov offers a choice of different focuses: village history, church architecture, and trails for hiking or cycling. The historic village layout was arranged around a castle and a Baroque church; there is also a museum of historic radios and stationary engines. If you are looking for a holiday apartment, first consider whether you would prefer to link your stay to local history, technology, or a route. A radio receives signals; a stationary engine powers machinery.
Hiking and cycling
The yellow-marked hiking trail runs from Čeřínek to Ježená via Mirošov. This places the village on a hiking route with two named endpoints. The cycling route, by contrast, starts in Mirošov, follows the Jedlovský potok through Jedlov, and continues towards Boršov. When hiking, Mirošov is a place along the way; when cycling, it is the starting point. You can therefore decide whether to hike a route between two places or start a cycling trip in Mirošov.
In the Jihlava area, there is also a cycling tour of about 50 kilometres through smaller communities. Here, the approximate overall distance provides a point of reference; on the route along the Jedlovský potok, the stream and the sequence of villages help with orientation. When weighing up cycling options, you can consider whether a route’s length or a specific sequence of places would be more helpful for your planning.
Local history and architecture
Mirošov’s historic village layout was arranged around a castle and a Baroque church. The castle was demolished in 1986; the church is the main surviving building. The filial Church of St. Joseph was built around 1740 by Jan Vratislav of Mitrovice and has an oval nave. The approximate construction date and the shape of the nave answer different questions: the date places the building’s origins in time, while the oval nave describes the building’s form. The term “nave” refers to the main space of a church and helps make the architectural description clearer. The two years refer to different events: around 1740 to the construction of the church, and 1986 to the demolition of the castle.
A stone reconciliation cross stands in the southeastern part of the former castle garden. Its location provides a specific connection to the history of the former castle grounds.
Planning your visit
The Church of St. Joseph is occasionally open to visitors; check locally whether a visit is possible on your planned date. The museum of historic radios and stationary engines offers a technical focus alongside the church architecture. Visits must be arranged in advance by phone. The visiting arrangements therefore differ: the church’s occasional opening is what matters, while the museum requires prior arrangements by phone.
