A marked hiking trail runs through Hostětice; at the same time, the chapel, Pohl Villa and the village’s historic ties to Telč reveal different sides of the place. A stay here offers more than one perspective: local history, a registered landscape feature, and marked cycling and hiking connections sit alongside the landscape between cultivated land and a wooded ridge. Specific dates and routes help distinguish these themes and choose the right focus for your trip.

History and Local Connections

Hostětice has been mentioned in written sources as part of the Telč estate since 1366; the village remained part of the Telč domain until 1849. The two dates are almost five centuries apart, placing the historic connection to Telč within a long period. The chapel in the village represents a different layer of history: it dates from the 1950s and was consecrated at that time. It was renovated into its present form in the summer and autumn of 2019. Pohl Villa has an avenue leading to it that is still preserved, as well as an extensive garden.

A Landscape in Transition

Hostětice lies in the transition zone between the agricultural, cultivated landscape of the Telč Basin and the compact, wooded ridge of the Javořická vrchovina. Wooded groves, meadows and gently rising, undulating terrain shape this impression. The gentle ascent and rolling terrain add a topographic dimension to the contrast between cultivated landscape and wooded ridge. One specific natural feature is Částkovická pastvina, a registered significant landscape feature: a short-grass meadow where endangered plant species occur. This allows a single meadow feature and the wider landscape transition to be considered as distinct nature themes. For nature enthusiasts, this offers two perspectives: the plant species found in the individual landscape feature and the broader landform of the transition zone.

On Foot and by Bike

The marked hiking trail runs through Hostětice and leads from Telč via Lhotka to Štamberk and the stone sea. Marked cycle route 1113 runs from Telč through Hostětice and onward towards Mrákotín and Světlá. On the return to Telč, cycle route 5124 runs through Lhotka, Částkovice and Hostětice; the route then continues to Telč on cycle route 1113. These route details answer different questions: the hiking trail lists a sequence of stops, cycle route 1113 indicates a direction from Telč, and the sequence of routes 5124 and 1113 describes a return to Telč. In addition, the Telč–Lipky cycle path joins existing roads near Lipky that connect Hostětice and Vanov. Unlike the routes that run through Hostětice, Telč–Lipky is described in terms of the junction near Lipky and the connections there between Hostětice and Vanov.
