Panské Dubenky offers several clear starting points for a stay: the Neoclassical Church of the Epiphany, the history of Doubravský Mill, ponds and two routes that pass through the village. The local highlights range from architecture and industrial history to waterside landscapes, hiking and cycling. You can tailor your trip around the themes that interest you most.

Church and Mill History

The Church of the Epiphany is a Neoclassical building dating from 1788. It was built during the Josephine era and has a single nave; the chancel ends in a polygonal apse, and a tower stands on the façade. A single-nave building has one main space, while a polygonal chancel end has several sides. These features give the church a clearly identifiable architectural form. The ornamental interior paintings were created in 1940 based on a design by Jiří Trnka. The church thus brings together the architecture of the late 18th century and a much later interior design.

Doubravský Mill offers a different perspective on the village’s history. The mill and pond are mentioned as early as 1366. Two later records concern different aspects of the mill’s operation: a wool-spinning mill was established at Doubravský Mill in 1888, and towards the end of the 19th century the mill was converted to steam power. Together, these details illustrate both the early mention of the mill and pond and the later commercial and technological changes.

Ponds, Terrain and Rock

The landscape can also be explored through individual bodies of water and terrain features. East of Panské Dubenky, the elongated Šerý Pond lies on the Hamerský Stream. Kazimír Pond is on the Doubravský Stream, within the cadastral area of Panské Dubenky. To the west, this stream bounds the ridge. The Doubravský Stream thus appears in two different local contexts: by a pond in the cadastral area and as the western boundary of the ridge.

Another feature of the landscape is the active Lom Panské Dubenky quarry. It lies on a wooded hill one kilometre southeast of Panské Dubenky. A Mrákotín-type granitoid is found there. Bodies of water, landforms and rock offer different ways to explore the landscape around the village.

Hiking and Cycling

The 25-kilometre “Po stopách husitů” hiking route passes through Panské Dubenky between Býkovec and Domašín. As a cycling option, the “Řásná-Popelín a zpět” tour passes through the village. The hiking route specifies a distance and two endpoints; the other tour offers a different type of activity. Check the route details before setting out.

For planning purposes, the themes are easy to distinguish: the church and mill represent architecture and industrial history, while the ponds, terrain and two routes appeal to other interests. The specific details can help you choose what to focus on during your stay in Panské Dubenky.
