Štětí offers several ways to plan a stay: walking routes of varying lengths, a section of the Labská stezka near Hněvice, and river scenery and culture. When planning, it is worth choosing according to your interests: would you prefer to focus on guided town walks, cycling, nature or an event? Each option offers a different experience.

Walking routes and nature trail

The Štětí Information Centre offers tourists and visitors guided tours along three walking routes of varying lengths. The “Historic Centre of Štětí” route is 2 km long and takes about 1.5 hours. This gives you both the distance and an approximate duration to help plan your route. Check how the walk is organised before you arrive; if you would like a guided tour, also ask in advance about booking requirements and availability.

Another option is the “Naučné putování loupežníka Štětky” nature trail, with 21 information boards. The first four stops feature interactive games for children and adults. If this appeals to you, you can plan your visit to include these stops.

Cycling and scenery

The Labská stezka is another option for cyclists to consider. A completed section of more than 4 km runs through Hněvice, a district of Štětí. A link branches off there to Hněvice railway station; near Hněvice, the route reaches the Ústecký kraj region. These details provide a guide to the route and the branch to the station. This is a different option from the walking routes, and the two are not necessarily part of one continuous tour.

A narrow strip of floodplain woodland with reed beds along the riverbank stretches along the Elbe towards Počeplice and is considered particularly rich in birdlife. From Špičák, you can enjoy views of Štětí, the surrounding communities and the CHKO Kokořínska protected landscape area. At Bílé stráně u Štětí, semi-natural dry grasslands and scrub communities grow on calcareous ground. These offer contrasting natural environments: riverside vegetation along the Elbe and dry grassland on calcareous soil.

Culture and events

The first documented mention of the Church of St Simon and Jude in Štětí dates from 1352. The FEDO festival dates back to 1969; after 1978, it was held every two years.

Recent editions of FEDO have included a parade through Štětí, an afternoon concert in Husovo náměstí and the Sunday afternoon Monstrkoncert. The format may vary from one edition to the next. The Štětská ostrev takes place every year and includes a historical day with an afternoon of folk music. If you would like to plan your trip around a festival, check the dates and current programme in advance.
