The Zvířátková stezka is an interactive nature trail through the natural surroundings of Ludvíkovice. The shorter route covers 4 kilometres and takes about 2 hours; the longer one is approximately 7 kilometres long, leads to the Sluneční brána and takes around 4 hours.

Two options for the Zvířátková stezka

For planning your day, the timeframes are easy to distinguish: the shorter option takes about two hours, while the longer takes around four. The routes also differ in where they lead, as the longer one goes to the Sluneční brána. At stations 1 to 7, signs with QR codes provide access to the audio guide, adding an audio experience to the nature trail’s interactive features. This gives you two distinct ways to explore nature on your trip: a nature trail route with a specified length and duration, and a forest section of the Hřebenovka around Ludvíkovice.

Landscape and trails around Ludvíkovice

The municipality of Ludvíkovice lies on the edge of the České středohoří Protected Landscape Area; most of it is within the Labské pískovce Protected Landscape Area. The Labe forms the western boundary of the municipality. Along this boundary, the Růžový hřeben rises above the river, with sandstone cliffs and continuous woodland. The Hřebenovka follows a forest section around Ludvíkovice; at the edge of the village, it leads to a memorial to the victims of both world wars. These are distinct geographical points of reference: the protected areas encompass the municipality, the Hřebenovka follows a forest section, and the memorial stands at a specific point on the edge of the village.

Local history and monuments

Ludvíkovice was first mentioned in 1425 under the name Ludwigsdorf; Loosdorf was also used later. For more than 100 years, a monument to Dr. Kudlich has stood at the intersection of a first-class road and a third-class road. He campaigned for the abolition of compulsory corvée labour. The early reference and the monument offer different insights into local history: the village’s earlier names and the remembrance of Kudlich’s efforts.

In the southeastern part of the village are the remains of a promontory fortification above a quarry overlooking the Loubský potok. A promontory location refers to a position on a projecting landform; here, the quarry and stream further define its setting. Unlike the Kudlich monument at a road intersection, the fortification remains are described by their topographical location.

The cemetery in Ludvíkovice contains a monument made from old tombstones and fragments of tombstones, including plaques and inscriptions. The cemetery is well maintained; if a detailed presentation of the monument is important to you, check its condition before your visit.

Table tennis at the cultural centre

The Ludvíkovice Cultural Centre offers table tennis on Thursdays and Sundays from 5 p.m. These sessions give the activity a regular weekly schedule. If you would like to play table tennis during your stay, check the current schedule before your visit.
