A mild valley, archaeological traces from different periods and a marked cycling route give Lesonice a character that brings landscape and history together. When planning your trip, you can focus on different things: the views, historic sites and finds, or outdoor activities on cycling and nature trails.
Valley Views and Themed Trails
Lesonice lies in a mild valley bordered by fields and, mainly to the east, deciduous forest. A viewpoint along the Školnà naučná stezka LESONICE offers another view over the surrounding area. From there, you can see Moravský Krumlov as well as wind, nuclear and solar power plants. Visibility depends on conditions.
The Lesonická školnà naučná stezka has six themed stops with information boards. Check the trail conditions and signage on site before including these stops in your plans. This gives you two different options: a viewpoint overlooking the town and power plants, and an educational trail with several themed stops. The descriptions do not provide a basis for treating the two trails as one combined route.
History from the Neolithic to the Present
Archaeological finds and excavations indicate that the Lesonice area was already inhabited in the Neolithic period. A fortified settlement stood on the summit of Leskoun near Lesonice. These early traces give the history of the area a broad time frame that extends beyond its later buildings and monuments.
The Obilné jámy are also part of the area's history: these are grain storage pits near Lesonice dating from before the Thirty Years' War. Their connection to Lesonice is therefore different from that of the cultural monuments at the listed addresses in the village.
The bell towers at Náves 1 are registered as a cultural monument under registration number 19672/7-6517. At Náves 2 stands the statue of Saint John of Nepomuk, also registered as a cultural monument, under number 15689/7-6516. Those interested in architectural and religious heritage will find specific points of interest here, each with its own address and registration.
Another aspect of the village's history is reflected in the use of the Sokolovna. Residents built the building in 1924; today, together with the sports ground, it serves sporting and cultural purposes. Lesonice thus brings together historical landmarks, a later-built community venue and archaeological traces from a much earlier period.
Cycling Route and Other Leisure Activities
Marked cycling route No. 5009 runs through Lesonice along the BĹ™eĹľany–Miroslav–MiroslavskĂ© KnĂnice–Lesonice–MoravskĂ˝ Krumlov–Rokytná route. Within the cadastral area of Lesonice, it follows lightly trafficked roads.
The cycling route and educational trails offer different experiences: Route 5009 is the designated cycling link through Lesonice, while the educational trails offer viewpoints or themed stops. Lesonice also has an outdoor swimming pool for relaxation. When choosing your stay, you can focus on cycling, themed discoveries, cultural history or relaxation, rather than treating all these options as a fixed itinerary.
If the six stops are part of your plans, check the condition of the Lesonická školnà naučná stezka and its signage on site.
